Opponents called the self-appointed border enforcers -- most of whom carry guns -- dangerous vigilantes and bigots.

Other than that, the paragraph is fine.

I find it ironic that it takes a group like this to get law enforcement to pay any attention to the problem. If we left it up to Bill Kolender, we'd just let the flood continue until we're overwhelmed.

This whole immigration issue has to be driven in part
by the low birthrate issue, just like in Europe.

From 1971 until a couple of years ago, America's
low birthrate meant that women were not having enough
children to exceed deaths. This was offset to some
extent by the baby boomer's grandbabies
and by, surprise, surprise, immigration.

Which leads you to conclude that, behind all the
rhetoric, both political parties are okay with
lots and lots of immigration. Including illegal,
it would seem, if you have policies to make illegals
legal after enough time has passed.

In Europe you have the huge influx of Muslims and in
the USA a flood of people from Latin America. Now
we're experiencing some very unpleasant side
effects. How ironic that this country kills off its
citizens with legal abortion so it can replace them
with illegals.

Yep, the police need to make sure the CRIMINALS violating Federal Law are protected from the likes of those "vigilante" radicals that might want all those ILLEGALS to stop breaking the law.

Hmmm... And how many murders, shootings, gang violence and drug deals are going on that they should be investigating a little more closely? Oh, I forget, California is a Socialist Nation...

The Orwellian double-speak in this article is getting pretty well entrenched. Sadly, President Bush also called the Minutemen "vigilantes". While he is a good man, he is the person who is most responsible for legitimizing the term.

"I'm against vigilantes in the United States of America."~ President George Bush

I don't believe Pres. Bush has ever retracted that statement.
-Our President has also made the following statements. (the first two statements were made before he was President):

"Family Values Don't Stop at the Rio Bravo" -- George W. Bush
"Hell, if they'll cross Big Bend, we want 'em." -- George W. Bush
"They just do the jobs Americans won't do...."--George W. Bush

Well if it takes "vigilantes" being watched to get the police to watch the borders, then so be it!

Sad, but that seems to be the best that we can hope for from our "law enforcement" establishment.

Citizens to the border!

Reflects the official "lets do nothing some more" attitude of all levels of government from top to bottom.

A thorough housecleaning is way past due.

This is what the fence looks like in San Diego. It's made of rusty old surplus SeaBee runway mats. Helpfully, it was installed with the corrogations horizontal to serve as toeholds. Nine year olds can climb it carrying soccer balls in each hand.

I'm afraid after reading the report below and after years of giving him benefit of the doubt, I can't agree with you about the President. For him to essentially call Americans "lazy" while doing nothing to undo the socialist state is such a kick in the face. Those who "want to work" are called "vigilantes."

The document referred to below calls for open borders by 2010.

"This CFR document, called "Building a North American Community," asserts that George W. Bush, Mexican President Vicente Fox, and Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin "committed their governments" to this goal when they met at Bush's ranch and at Waco, Texas on March 23, 2005. The three adopted the "Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America" and assigned "working groups" to fill in the details.

"It was at this same meeting, grandly called the North American summit, that President Bush pinned the epithet "vigilantes" on the volunteers guarding our border in Arizona. "

I'm worried they might get tetanus, climbing it. Don't you think we should smooth it out and also make the landing softer?

Those Minutemen, boy, they'd better toe the line! They'd better not carry guns, have a bad attitude, or disobey any letter of the law. They'd better dot every "i" and cross every "t." Otherwise, they are evil, gun-toting bigots and vigilantes! They have to be totally pure and above reproach, and even when they are, they are still blasted and called names.

The illegals, on the other hand? Why, they're angels! They're "good-hearted people," (President Bush,) even "precious people," (Colin Powell.) Not only are they welcomed, praised, and flattered by our so-called leaders, they are allowed to break our laws with impunity. They are above any criticism. They are a privileged, protected class of people. Why, we're not even allowed to call them "illegal," lest we hurt their fragile, precious little feelings!

I think it is way past time for the American people to take to the streets in rage, demanding our country back.

Thanks for that info and link.

I agree, it was a "kick in the face."
This whole "Doing jobs that Americans won't do" is propaganda.

I'd venture to guess that San Diego's law enforcement community wholly disagrees with its leadership. I'd even go one further and say the leadership disagrees with its official "public" position but they lack the nads to say what they really think; can't be dissin' those highly vocal "immigrants rights groups".

"A thorough housecleaning is way past due."

When it is made public that the next attack on America was conducted by terrorists that came across the border. Then, and only then will you see the citizens reaching for the broom. Until then, expect nothing to happen.

We talk and talk and talk, nod our heads and continue to vote them back into office because they are better than the other guy. Baaaahhhhh.

At what point do the Americans finally say enough is enough?

You are quite welcome! I'm so distraught - he WAS the first mainstream candidate I supported and even campaigned for.

Speaking of candidates, here is a link to send a Minuteman to Congress you may not have:

Have a nice afternoon/evening :)
