WASHINGTON, July 18, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) - It is an axiom of politics that a political gaffe is what happens whenever a politician speaks the truth. In the case of the ongoing flap over some three year-old remarks by Senator Rick Santorum on the clergy abuse crisis, that axiom is being proved more than apt.
In 2002, Catholic Online published an essay by Santorum in which he identified the source of the crisis as liberalism in the culture and in the Church, a liberalism which denounces and attempts to abolish the Church's teaching on human sexuality. Santorum's remarks have been re-published by the Boston Globe and have caused a kafuffle in the Senate as local elections loom. The Senator wrote, "It is no surprise that Boston, a seat of academic, political and cultural liberalism in America, lies at the center of the storm."
Santorum wrote in 2002, "It is startling that those in the media and academia appear most disturbed by this aberrant behavior, since they have zealously promoted moral relativism by sanctioning 'private' moral matters such as alternative lifestyles."
On Friday, Senator Ted Kennedy took the floor of the Senate and excoriated Santorum for bashing Bostonians and demanded an apology. Santorum, however, was not interested in demands by Ted Kennedy, a notorious leftist, a supporter of abortion and well-known opponent of the Church to which he claims to belong. Standing by his original thesis, Santorum said, "The basic liberal attitude in that area . . . has an impact on people's behavior." Adding, "If you have a world view that I'm describing [about Boston] . . . that affirms alternative views of sexuality, that can lead to a lot of people taking it the wrong way."

I hear you I am with Santorum on this good for him!
Kennedy should holding vigil today..
Ted Kennedy's still around eh?...oh well...two out of three ain't bad!
Yeah, they got the wrong one every time...
I like Santorum. We could use more politicians like him that will speak out about the left wing agenda of moral decay. This guy should be president, because very few Republicans are willing to tell the truth about the left no matter what. This guy just calmly tells it like it is.
Intresting that Boston barfed up another Kennedy who finds it necessary to defend his father for turning it into such a festering cesspool of perdition.
Perhaps Ted Kennedy will offer a rebuttal as to the origins of sex scandals in the Catholic Church and specifically Boston?
Teddy is like that neighbor's dog that barks at you for stepping out of your own front door on your own property. The dog is too dem/dim to understand where his territory begins and ends.
"Kennedy, Drunk Again."
"In other news, the sun rose in the east."
Sleep it off, Kennedy.
SANTORUM: "How's the Oldsmobile, chubby?"
Then I wake up.
