The terrorists are filled with hate. Jealousy,
self-pity, anger, etc., are all subsets of hate,
but the hate is first.
You can't reason with hate, you can't bargain
with it. Hatred is an emotion. It's irrational.
We in the problem-solving West can sit here from
now until doomsday trying to understand hatred
so we can "solve" it.
While we sit around trying to solve the puzzle of
hatred the terrorist haters will keep on blowing
themselves up alongside innocent people. The only
thing you can do is let the haters know that acts
of hatred will unequivocally not be tolerated.
They will hate us no matter what we do so we
might as well protect the innocent first and
foremost.
