Former CNN anchor Bill Hemmer joins Fox News Associated Press

NEW YORK — Bill Hemmer, dumped last month by CNN as co-host of its morning show, has joined archrival Fox News Channel as a daytime anchor.

Once one of CNN's rising stars, Hemmer was called the "chad lad" following his coverage of the Florida recount in 2000. CNN paired him with Paula Zahn as American Morning co-host in 2002, before she was replaced by Soledad O'Brien.

CNN said it wanted to "improve the chemistry" in the morning when it replaced Hemmer with Miles O'Brien this spring. The New York-based Hemmer was reportedly offered a White House correspondent's job at CNN but declined.

A Cincinnati native, Hemmer began his career as a weekend sports anchor in that city.

Hemmer will be a correspondent along with anchoring daytime news coverage, Fox said Tuesday.

I'm right. He's young, smart, great looking, off-beat, natural, has an interesting pedigree, and is unique.

Good. Enter him in a dog show then.

I miss David Bloom.

He was a real journalist. It was before my time, but he worked in Wichita before hitting the big time.

Somebody said that the whack jobs at DU hate this guy. Well, that's good enough for me. Welcome aboard, boy. I'll be looking forward to your reporting.

I've found that FOX keeps a steady course and lets the people fall where they may. Look at Gretta, she started out as a flaming libby and now she is a pretty decent anchor (for her format, that is). Even Gerald (o) has come off the commie ship of state and calmed down a bit (sure, he's made some real bone head mistakes but he has been sorry for them). There are many examples but two more that come to mind. The first, Alan Combes...I think Alan finally realizes that he is going to get beat to a pulp by Sean everytime he opens his commie mouth so he has toned it down over the years. Mara Liason (panel person on Special Report) she used to be a flaming commie but she has toned waaaay down since the early days. I can tell it just kills her but she gets chewed up so bad when she starts the commie rant that she just has to hold it in. Juan Williams is there for one reason....for Brett to beat the sh!t out of (intellectually) every time he opens his pie hole. I consider that to be entertainment.

In conclusion: Long live FOX and this Free Republic!

Does this mean that Fox is moving to the left or that Hemmer is moving to the right?

Lets remember Gretta -- she has changed remarkably since coming to FNC. She sticks to legal, stays out of politics, and has really made a good name for herself on Fox.

When I used to watch CNN (before they finally gave us FOX) Bill was an OK guy. This is one of cnn's castoffs that I will be happy with.
There is no such thing as another Brit Hume. Wish there was several of him.

Alan Comb-over is insufferable and my stomach turns whenever Whorealdo comes into view.

As for the weekend crew..........just zip right on by. Juliette and E.D. are losing so much weight......I guess they're in competition to see who can weigh under 100 first.
