LYNDEN, Wash. – Two federal sources have confirmed that a massive secret tunnel connecting the U.S. with Canada has been discovered in the Whatcom County town of Lynden, Wash.
It is believed that it is used to transport drugs, but it could also be related to Homeland Security issues.
Some arrests have been made.
A press conference is scheduled for Thursday morning.

This was on the 5:00 news. Lynden is just east of Blaine WA, the major border crossing between Washington and British Columbia. The reporter mentioned that her information was coming from U.S. Attorney's office. The mention of drug smuggling is not surprising, the reference to Homeland Security is interesting though.

On a previous thread, (not sure which one the treads are bouncing around quite a bit tonight), police have had construction under surveillance since it began and busted the operation when it was completed.
Plus 18 high level Hell's Angels were busted in an operation that has been ongoing for three years.
Virtually the entire BC Hell's Angels hierarchy is in the slammer. My guess is this tunnel is part of the case.
During Prohibition, bootleggers used to drive the booze from Canada to the U.S. across the Detroit River after it froze. It hasn't done that for awhile so evidently they got tired of waiting.

The tunnel was detected. They obviously didn't use stealth tunnel technology.

It could have been used to smuggle commodes across. This dadblamed low water usage toilets we are forced to buy in the US stink.

Probably for the illegal importation of Maple syrup and moose droppings. Maybe beaver meat.
