LYNDEN, Wash. – Two federal sources have confirmed that a massive secret tunnel connecting the U.S. with Canada has been discovered in the Whatcom County town of Lynden, Wash.

It is believed that it is used to transport drugs, but it could also be related to Homeland Security issues.

Some arrests have been made.

A press conference is scheduled for Thursday morning.

This was on the 5:00 news. Lynden is just east of Blaine WA, the major border crossing between Washington and British Columbia. The reporter mentioned that her information was coming from U.S. Attorney's office. The mention of drug smuggling is not surprising, the reference to Homeland Security is interesting though.

The Mexican Mafia has been trying to get a foot hold in the cross border trade for years. They tried locating in Birch Bay first, but were too easy to spot. I guess they moved over to the migrant workers camps in Lynden.

It's where the Canadian military was going to retreat to if invaded, making way for our troops...

The "mainstream" media has reported on the tunnel just busted
under the Canadian border, believed to be the first illicit tunnel
on that border - but not on the story behind it. While that
investigation continues, some of what led to the tunnel's bust -
and the arrest of three Canadian aliens - is known.
As for the tunnel itself, it took more than a year to build
it. About 120 yds. long and running between three and ten feet
below ground - and supported with steel rebar and 2x6 lumber - it
obviously took substantial engineering skill. But the builders of
it obviously never saw "The Great Escape" - which, ironically, is
the error that got them caught.
In the true movie, the Allied POWs had to work out all kinds
of schemes to hide all the dug-out dirt as they tunneled. But the
dope smugglers tunneling from Canada to Washington State lacked the
patience and mindset to handle that problem; they were first
suspected when they were seen forever carrying lots of dirt out of
the large quonset hut its Canadian entrance is in.
Suspicion about the huge amount of dirt coming out of the
quonset hut in Canada led INS and American drug agents to secretly
bug a house just across the border in Lynden, Washington - where
they found its American opening under the living room floor. Video
from the bugging devices showed Francis Raj - the owner of the
quonset in Canada - and two other Canadian aliens, Timothy Woo and
Johnathan Valenzuela, bringing large garbage bags through the
tunnel; they then were seen loading the bags into an SUV with Utah
plates - which they handed off to a woman at a nearby mall. Not
surprisingly, she was soon busted with the 93 lbs. of marijuana in
the bags in the vehicle.
Whether the three Canadian men did all the tunnel work
themselves is dubious. All are ages 27 to 34 - and, if any of them
had any background in either engineering or tunnel work, it's not
yet known.
