Moveon: Don't Forget Karl Rove (Read till link on bottom)

Posted on 07/22/2005 6:32:37 PM PDT by God luvs America

Dear MoveOn member,

Like a roller coaster, the news out of Washington this week has been an up and down ride. On Monday, the entire country was focused on Karl Rove's leak of the identity of an undercover CIA operative to the media. Then President Bush announced his nominee for the Supreme Court on primetime TV—nearly pushing the Rove story out of the news. The timing was intentional, a top Republican told Reuters: "It helps take Rove off the front pages for a week.”1 Monday, there were 1,043 news stories mentioning "Karl Rove" on top TV stations—yesterday there were 128.2

But last night, Bloomberg broke a major new part of the story: Rove’s explanation to the grand jury of how he learned Valerie Plame’s identity differs sharply from the explanations journalists gave.3 That could mean Rove lied to the grand jury—a felony. We need to make sure the media get back on the case. One easy way to do that is on the Letters-to-the-Editor page of newspapers. We've set up an online tool that makes submitting a letter easy. You write your letter, choose where you want it to go, and click to send. Will you write a letter to the editor? Click below to get started.

An effective letter-to-the-editor is short, just a couple of paragraphs. The goal is to show your local media, your neighbors, and even our elected leaders that people are upset about the Rove leak scandal.

Your letter will be very timely. Now, there are new revelations about a memo that made it clear to White House officials that CIA agent Valerie Plame's identity was a secret. The memo is evidence that there are probably multiple people involved in this CIA leak scandal.4

The Rove leak is scandalous because everybody agrees White House officials shouldn't blow the cover of our undercover CIA agents. An ABC News poll shows that a solid majority of Americans—some 75 percent—support firing Rove for what he did. This is true even among 71 percent of Republicans.5 But, so far, Republicans in Washington are ignoring the facts. It is important that the media hears that people are angry about the Rove leak so they keep reporting on developments in the case.

The outing of undercover CIA agent Valerie Plame is more outrageous because Karl Rove and the other White House leakers clearly had a political, not a patriotic, agenda. Ambassador Joe Wilson was refuting the bogus claims by the Bush administration about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Revealing the undercover identity of Wilson’s CIA agent wife was an attempt to discredit Ambassador Wilson and silence critics of the Iraq war. The lies that Wilson exposed were central to the rationale for war the Bush administration sold the American people.

Your letter can send a signal to the media that people don't want officials in important government positions who put their political agenda ahead of their patriotism. We can insist on media coverage of the White House leak. Please write a letter today.

There is also good news from Congress—the Democrats are standing up and working hard to make sure there is accountability. Today, Senate and House Democrats will hold their own hearings on the national security implications of the leak. They’ll hear from former CIA agents including a former classmate of Valerie Plame. The hearings will be chaired by Senator Byron Dorgan and Congressman Henry Waxman.

Together, we pushed stories like the Downing Street Memos into the news. Let's jumpstart the Karl Rove story.

Thanks for all you do.

LOL! I hear you!

It's the most frustrating thing. Can you imagine what it's like arguing global warming, AIDS, affirmative action, fair taxation, and the Constitution?

Go check out the Daily Kos blog and what they're saying about the Rove thing. Be sure to check the comments. It will blow your mind. They're Nucking Futs! AND Kos is hand in hand with the MoveOn wackos.

" But last night, Bloomberg broke a major new part of the story:

Do they realize how funny they sound ???
They applaud Bloomberg for allegedly leaking GJ testimony - which is a felony.
But, they want the death penalty for Karl Rove- because he passed on gossip- " I heard that, too."
When Barry Bond's GJ testimony on steroids was leaked- the federal prosecutor asked Justice to launch a criminal probe.
So, either Bloomberg News will now be hauled into a criminal probe on how grand jury testimony was leaked-
or the whole thing is urban myth from the minds of fevered Democrats.
I haven't heard any angry federal prosecutors asking the Justice Dept for a probe , have you ?

Or it could mean the journalists are full of crap.

Here in Minnecraponus the moonbats still believe the fake Texas Air National Guard memo. Every attempt at "uncovering a scandal" has failed, yet the moonbats here still believe their own propaganda, even after it's been disproven. OK, another name for the City of FLakes: Moonbatopolis.

What fun! Here's the letter I sent to the 5 national papers + my local papers:

Dear Sirs:

I am sure this is just one of many letters you will receive as part of an organized letter writing campaign from MoveOn. As such, you will see many of the same 'talking points' mentioned. First, they claim that Mr. Rove revealed the identify of an undercover CIA agent - this is FALSE, as Ms. Plame ceased undercover activities 6+ years before the conversation in question.
Second, they assert Mr. Rove broke the law or was negligent with national secrets; both assertions are false if their first point is false (which it is).
Third, they assert that Mr. Rove should be fired before the Fitzgerald inquiry is complete - sounds kinda un-American.
Fourth, they maintain that Ms. Plame was 'outed' to discredit a critic - Wilson was discredited by the Senate investigation.
So, if MoveOn's assertions are false, why is Judith Miller sitting in prison on a contempt charge? Who is she protecting? Karl Rove? Not likely. If Rove is innocent, it should be interesting to watch the blowback from Mr. Fitzgerald's inquiry...

"Don't be fooled. We spent eight years letting the Left push matters of serious import off the front page with artfully conjured headline-grabbing events, including cruise missiles lobbed at empty tents and aspirin factories. We're in for a half century of bloodshed thanks to these folks and their stewardship of national security. Swat them like the gnats they are."

---Here's my letter:

Subject: the Plame Plume game!
Body: MoveOn.Org and Howard Dean, Harry Reid, Teddy Kennedy, Dick Durbin, Hitlary Clinton, Sandbag Burger and all the rest of them are a truly a "God-send" to our GOP. The more these clowns are singing their democratic "Cry-Baby" song the deeper you are sinking at every election. I just read from Tampa: "Can this annimal of a Donkey be saved?" that it shows there are 38,000 more registered democrats than registered Republicans, and yet President Bush won in Tampa by 6.5% margin. So you guys keep on singing your "Cry-Baby" song, we just love it and you will slide further down on the slippery slop coming 2006 and 2008. We love it because you have NOT presented any political agenda that the people would vote for, not a single, zip, nada, issue have you come up with for the American people to support. The only agenda you have had so far is bashing our President from all angles and that is not productive for the American People and certainly NOT for your own party as well! Isn't it time that you finally learned something from what actually happened to Tom Daschle when he tried to play the obstructionist game in the Senate, especially regarding filibustering the President's nominees??? The American people finally said enough is enough and voted him OUT!!! Regarding MoveOn.Org's talking points that Karl Rove revealed the identity of an undercover CIA agent is a gross overstatement. Valerie Plame (Wilson)'s identity was revealed by her husband on many occasions before Novak's article. Plame was NOT an undercover CIA agent and had NOT been one for many years shall we say since 1997!?! You see MoveOn.Org the talking points like these is why you have been loosing elections by elections since 1994. The American people are NOT that stupid as you think they are. You are totally out of touch with the mainstream America and therefore the "Red" States with the 62% voter majority will also increase dramatically in 2006 and 2008 making your political influence even more pathetic and dim. BINGO!!!
