Callahan: Well, when an adult male is chasing a female with intent to commit rape, I shoot the bastard. That's my policy.

The Mayor: Intent? How did you establish that?

Callahan: When a naked man is chasing a woman through an alley with a butcher's knife and a hard-on, I figure he isn't out collecting for the Red Cross.

[Callahan walks out of the room]

The Mayor: He's got a point.

Just read up on the 9x57, you are right had he been shot with that there would be no reason for another shot.

The women in my family can look after themselves

One day after target practice I asked my daughter if a man broke in and was coming at her, could she shoot him. She said, no question about it.

We can debate that. A round passing through a body won't transfer nearly as much energy as a round expanding into said target. Even a .500 S&W will just poke a slightly bigger hole unless you can get more energy transfer from the kinetics of the bullet to the target.

My carry pistol is a Witness 10mm. First 5 rounds are 135gr XTP loaded at 6grs of W-231. Yeilds around 1720 FPS on the chrono. Follow that with 5 180gr FMJ loaded at 5.7 and another 5 200gr SP loaded at 5.9.

Hairsplitting my specialty:

"...Brooks Army Medical Center..."

*Brooke* Army Medical center is a hospital w/trauma center.

*Brooks* City Base is a former AFB on the proposed BRAC list.

They're local, they should get it right...

We can debate that.

And so we shall. :)

Eh, just kidding. You are very well armed and that 10mm sounds really nice to me.

A naked man with a knife breaking out your windows and trying to unlock the door... and only one shot? I would have emptied a clip into him!

That would be clear overuse of force.

It is very difficult to fight effectively with your d*ck hanging out.

If you read the bible you will find that even ancient warriors "girded up their loins" before going into battle.

9mm is too small. If it was a 10mm or better yet a .45 the taxpayers would be spared the expense of medical treatment for a rapist.

All of those are fairly unusual calibers for rifles. The only .45 I can think of off the top of my head is an old Thompson submachine gun.

It said a 9mm rifle, never heard of one before

Mac 10 came in a 9mm. Perhaps he had the selector on single shot.

It shoots a heck of a lot better than I thought it would. It is comparatively cheap to buy, but cleans up easy and has a near competition trigger right out of the box. The grips left a bit to be desired though.

I'm still kinda playing around with decent range loads for it. I want to keep it loaded fairly hot, without getting too expensive on the powder side. I've got a box of hard cast lead 180gr bullets coming in the mail for paper punching. I'll save the fancy stuff for when it is really needed.

Or if it's been shot off! ;)

You can get AR uppers chambered for darn near any pistol caliber. Including .45 ACP.

There are several carbines that use 9mm pistol ammunition. Marlin made one, don't know if they still do.

Not only that, it accepted magazines from one of the pistol makers, Smith & Wesson I think. Pretty handy to have behind the seat of your truck, but if I were going to have a pistol & rifle combo sharing ammo, I'd want it in .44 Mag or .45 ACP.

Ah, here it is:

Very nice. That harkens back to the day when a cowboy could carry a hogleg in .44-40 and a Winchester in the same caliber.

Strange that Winchester never chambered their carbines for .45 Colt back then. It would have been a natural combination.

the term sexual assault is pretty vague... did he rape her? or just touch her inappropriately?
Not that it matters in the end, just curious.

Too bad the rapist wasn't killed. He deserved to die for raping his friend's mother!!

The couple should never have gone for a gun. It's not the way to settle a domestic argument. They both should get charged with domestic violence. This kind of stupidity is what gives the gun grabbers ammunition. (Pun intended.) ;o)
