Kerry has come along for the ride (Why Lance may be the winner but he's still a loser!)

Senator says it is his turn 'to collect' on an election-night promise

SAINT-ETIENNE, France – Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) watched Lance Armstrong win Saturday's 20th stage and says he's at the Tour to collect on a promise of a ride with the six-time winner.

Kerry said the promise was made election night, when Armstrong and girlfriend Sheryl Crow were in Boston to support the Democratic presidential candidate.

"I'm going to collect on my ride with Lance," Kerry joked. "Lance came to Boston on the night of my election. Lance and I promised each other a ride during the campaign, and I'm here to collect."

Kerry, 61, is an avid cyclist who said he rides three times a week and got the cycling bug during his childhood when his father worked at the U.S. embassy in France.

Kerry flew to France on Friday evening and will return to Washington on Monday. He said it was the first time he's traveled without bodyguards since before his presidential campaign two years ago.

"I think it's phenomenal," Kerry said of Armstrong's Tour dominance. "It's a huge sporting accomplishment. When you look at his personal story, to the quality of races, one of the great sport accomplishments of all time."

When asked if Armstrong has a future in politics, Kerry said yes, with a caveat: "It would be great, as long as he joins the right party."

In other words, Kerry considers party affiliation to be the one and only measure of a politician's worth.

What a sniveling leech!

I hope Armstrong brushes him off like a bug.

One more frog in Lance's dust.

Take that concept into politics with you, Lance --- you'll get nowhere on the wrong team.

If we are lucky, maybe a fan can knock Kerry off his bike.

I read over on DU yesterday that Kerry was interviewed on a French news channel in French but answered in English, lol.

Just like everything else about Kerry, him saying he is fluent in French is probably another lie and/or exaggeration.

You know it's bad when even the DUmmies were mocking him for this!

He said it was the first time he's traveled without bodyguards since before his presidential campaign two years ago.

That means he'll have no one to blame when he takes a spill ;-)

John Kerry if you lurk here please stay in France where you belong.

After all John they are just like you, doing everything they can to prevent themselves from working over 30hrs a week.

I'm reading between the lines: does Kerry have a girlish crush on Lance?

Kerry's gone home to the only people who love him.--The French.

Armstrong should tell him he gets his ride after the Form 180 is signed and the contents released to the public as promised.

I had seen that pic dozens of times during the election cycle, and I never once noticed those training wheels. I guess I need to be more observant.

lol.

John F'n Kerry toured America in flip-flops. He was good at shifting though.

This is Les Essarts (rear), Kerry's mansion in Franch which is situated for partying at the end of bike races.

Poor boy needs a job.

Do you not get that he offered it because he THOUGHT you were going to be elected?  I'm guessing that since you failed to detroy America he might not be in such a hurry to go "riding" with you.  He is a winner, why would he associate with a loser like you?
