Vandals are compounding the grief of a Tri-state soldier's family.

Not even 24-hours after Private First Class Tim Hines's wife and family said goodbye at his funeral, American flags that had adorned their Fairfield yard were piled beneath a car and burned....

"I find it highly dubious that there's rogue band of liberals looking to disgrace the flag and piss on the country."

You don't live in the Bay Area. These kind of incidents are common here and they are political statements. They are perpetrated by self described anarchists sublimating their violent impulses in the name of environmental, socialism, social justice, anti-war, anti-Christian, anti-Bush causes, etc; These people use explosives, arson, vandalism and sometimes deadly force on people in the name of what liberals call civil disobedience. They get automatic representation by the ACLU and virtually always the DA drops the charges. So while the police have arrest powers, the perpetrates are always back on the street through the DA's revolving door justice. I hope you are right and that the state of anarchy I just described is not prevalent in Ohio.

This story has made me cry. I can not even begin to understand how someone could do this....they are attributing it to drunkenness....highly doubtful. It is most likely some liberal who was offended by the flags. I hope this horrible person left some evidence so they can be punished.

The American Legion believes that it is/was the veterans who gave America its civil liberties...not the ACLU. The ACLU wants all Christian and Jewish symbols to be removed from government land, including cemeteries.

The American Legion cited that one of the lawyers at the ACLU is the wife of a 9th Circuit Court of Appeals judge.

The ACLU got $900,000 of taxpayer's money for winning their case against the Boy Scouts. (The ACLU persue pro bono cases.)

Ah... word lawyering. I suppose just about everyone gets socialized early in his or her life. However, I can only speak to my experiences.

If you can't come up with cognitive thought, banter semantics. Maybe someone will mistake it for intelligence...

If I had done that to my girlfriend's possessions I would have gotten 1 year at the state pen... what gives? How can they do that to so many people and get away with it?

"The family of a Marine who was killed in Iraq is furious with Lt. Gov. Catherine Baker Knoll for showing up uninvited at his funeral this week, handing out her business card and then saying "our government" is against the war...."

If that had been a relative of mine's funeral, Gov. Knoll would've gone in the hole with him or her.

If I ever caught the scumbags that did this, the redneck in me would come out big time!

I've not heard or seen anything of such a suit. Where is it reported? The ACLU, while a legitimate object for intense debate, generally doesn't engage in litigation it knows will be a loser. Moreover, what does the wife of a judge have to do with the subject? If that were ever a criterion then justice(nominee) Judge Robert's wife, as a vigorous anti-abortion participant, would become relevant to his confirmation; which, of course, it should not.

Junior:"Catch 'em and turn 'em over to me."

Matchett-PI: "Like everyone else, you exhibit an innate sense of right and wrong and justice. From where did everyone get those ideas?

Junior: "Socialization early in my life."

Matchett-PI: "So "everyone" got those ideas from "socialization in YOUR early life"? Want to try again?"

Junior:"Ah... word lawyering. I suppose just about everyone gets socialized early in his or her life. However, I can only speak to my experiences. If you can't come up with cognitive thought, banter semantics. Maybe someone will mistake it for intelligence..."

Buzzzzz. Want to try again?

This is happening in California...and it's not the ACLU that's going after the American Legion...it's the other way round...with the Legion going after the ACLU!

The judge in question doesn't recuse himself when a suit is brought by the ACLU (and his wife) before him.

I believe the perps are liberal adults. Their cowardice and sickness prove that they must belong to the moveon.org denomination.

I ask them: if you hate this country and its military so much to the point of attacking a military widow-in-grief, why don't you leave the US and live in a socialist/communist country? This will certainly improve both nations.

If I say what I really want to, I'd be banned for bad language. This is sick and twisted and I really do believe and hope bad karma will catch up to the people that did this.

I'm pinging you, RCA2000, since this is in your neck of the woods (Cincinnati).

Why isn't a pack of jokers ever doing this when I'm around???

Oh, I don't know. Maybe because you have an aura about you that screams: "Danger! Danger Will Robinson! Danger!" You think?
Naah.

Catch 'em and turn 'em over to me.

No, I want them.

While everyone else wants to use fists, bats, or bullets, I'll break them on the wheel.

No quarter, no mercy, no pity, and no shame.

My suggestion is that the community take a collection to replace the lost car and the flags. Then put up some security cameras around the display. Offer a reward for information on the vandalism.
