BERKELEY, Calif. - Former U.S. Labor Secretary Robert Reich is joining the faculty of the University of California, Berkeley.

Reich taught at Berkeley's Goldman School of Public Policy during the spring semester and in 2004. That post will become permanent as of Jan. 1, according to a statement Friday from the university.

Reich said he's taking the job to participate in an intellectual community "that supports a full discussion of all views."

Reich, who has written ten books concerning politics and the economy, served as labor secretary in the Clinton administration, as an assistant to the solicitor general in the Ford administration and as head of the Federal Trade Commission's policy planning staff during the Carter administration.

Reich is leaving his post as professor at Brandeis University in Massachusetts.

"I've loved my eight years at Brandeis," said Reich, "but I've always wanted to teach at a public university, and Berkeley is the best public university in the world.

"I hope my experience in government and academia helps (students) become the next generation of America's thought leaders."

Reich also stated on TV once that Communism didn't work because the right peopel were not in charge. Bet he thinks it would work if he were in charge.

A discussion of all points of view at Berkeley? That's a laugh.

I'd guess that Reich's reputation is going to dwarf those of his new colleagues.

Yeah, that would be a first.

The guy wants "a full discussion of all views" at a place like Berkeley of all places.

Anybody who puts forth a conservative point of view there would be booed out of the place.

Even though he is a mental midget.

Himself, apparently.

There should be an asterisk, with a footnote like:"all appropriate views."

Perfect. Now Philip Johnson and Judith Butler finally have someone to feel intellectually smug towards.

I welcome this. I'm all too familiar with the officious, self-satisfied prigs that are Berkeley. Reich may be a far-left moonbat, but he's a decent person and he will be a breath of fresh air at Berkeley.

He's making a foolish decision by passing up his "natural calling" as a garden gnome.

And, I can think of a few more.

But, getting back to Reich:

It is a peculiar trait of small men to be full of themselves. Or, so I have observed over a period of six decades or so.

I remember a pip-squeak newly frocked Rear Admiral at CincPacFlt Hq in the early 70's.

We knick-named the prissy flake "Claude" after Claude Rains.

It seems that way to me at any rate. Anyhoo, I despise everything that little twerp stands for. And, at least we know where he is, so when we have to finally nuke Berkeley, maybe we'll get him in the cross-hairs at Ground Zero.

Or, better yet: Let's suggest the Guv appoint him a commission of one to straighten out the disastrous educational system that IS Kalifornia's wery wery worstest nightmare. See how long he would last at that impossible task!!!
