Not when the other 98% of society quits or doesn't join.

It would tick the Islamics off though. But on balance, no.

"When you have members of Congress like Rep. Wayne Gilchrest, who is a staunch conservative, a Vietnam War veteran who knows the military inside and out and is saying that the ban can be lifted and should be lifted, that is a sign of very significant progress,"

Gilchrest is doing things now to piss off conservatives and patriots. Must be to align him with his new constituency.

Wouldn't be surprised to see him go RAT next election.

Donnelly said allowing openly homosexual soldiers to serve in the military will have the opposite effect on recruiting numbers.

"Well if you really wanted to destroy recruiting, that would be a pretty good way to do it," said Donnelly,

Exactly. Just try replacing 500,000 straight men with 30,000 queers and see what that does to your military.

There is no shortage of lesbians in the military.

Servicemembers Legal Defense Network ---- National organization devoted to assisting those affected by "don't ask, don't tell, don't pursue."......I just love on Liberals name their organization so it sounds nothing like its actual purpose. What a bunch of liars who are afraid to say who they really are.

Sure.
Let the able-bodied men stay home, and let the homos fight on the front lines (along with our mothers and daughters)!
Equal rights and all, eh?
And the women won't have to worry about sexual harassment.

I heard that the military met their recruitment needs because although new recruits were down, re-ups exceeded the expectations by a lot.

If they could just shut the heck up about their sex lives then they can join. Is that so difficult????

Great idea. Then we can have the new "Armed and Fabulous Brigade"!

Oh, really?

Doesn't this argument make about as much sense as drilling holes in the bottom of a boat to let the water out quicker?

""The 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' law hangs like a 'Gays Not Welcome' sign outside the Pentagon's front door," said Sharra Greer, director of law and policy for Servicemembers Legal Defense Network (SLDN)."

We can assume the SLDN prefers the Pentagon's "back door".
Nasty, nasty, deadly.

Well, there it is then; the solution to the Military's recruitment problem! Now, if we could just get enough homosexuals coming in the front door, as we'd have heterosexuals fleeing out the back door, our problem would be solved!

Later (deleted) pingout.

Well, if the military gave up all standards altogher it would certainly boost recruitment. Serving in the military isn't a right, it's a privileged duty. Not everyone who wants to join is eligible.

A better idea: increase military base pay to make it more competitive with the civilian job market.
