Is this for real? I can't find mention of this anywhere else on the web.

Now if only France would fill that Islamic heritage wing with relics from Charles Martel and is defeat of the first attempted muslim invasion of Europe.

They already do have some cool Charles Martel art.

The Combat of Charles Martel and d'Abdeherame, King of the Seracens

And it wasn't a defeat of the first attempted invasion. It was the first defeat of a long-successful invasion, the beginning of the end for Muslims in Europe.

Islamic art wing at the Louvre

I hope their art is better than their music, dancing, and comedy.

I guess I need more tolerance during these times when Islam is trying to reach out to us all. Sorry if I offended you.

I would note that Christians, Jews and other religions are reminded quite regularly of their dark pasts as you have. Why not Islam?

And then the muslims willl complain about the offensive, non-muslim art and mythological subjects and demand that they be removed. Once part of the building is muslim, it must always remain muslim.

I'll be the first to go off on Islam's dark past and currently dark present. I just have a problem with people taking jabs at another's religion where it is outside of the context of the discussion.

The way it is these days, I could see a story "Muslim charity gives $100K to local orphanage" and not far down I'd have to see a comment like "They should be forced to paint murals of the twin tower attacks in the cafeteria." The single-mindedness is scary. It's just uncalled for. Now a comment like "Wow! A Muslim charity actually giving to charity!" would be fun and appropriate.

The single minded obsession of radical Isalm to KILL all non-Muslims is what is scary. Islam is the evil that is attacking the West. Since 9/11 I spent time studying Islam and Mohammed. I have concluded it is NOT a religion, but a evil cult. Mohammed was a sadistic psychopath. When the radical followers of Islam use a WMD on the West, I think many will wake up from the fog of elitist PC. The Muslim terrorists will continue to seek to carry out mass murder. The terrorists cannot be reasoned with, they must all be killed.

. Since 9/11 I spent time studying Islam and Mohammed. I have concluded it is NOT a religion, but a evil cult.

That's nice, I've been studying it since the mid-90s, including in college with conservative (not liberal leftist) professors. My papers on Islam were critical where appropriate, and received As.

The terrorists cannot be reasoned with, they must all be killed.

And this relates to some guy donating to a museum how? Don't let your anger for the terrorists consume you. Not all things are related to terrorism.

Islamic Art?

I though islam prohibited depictions of any living creature or person?

Just geometric patterns.

How will they differentiate other non-islamic art from the regions?

Money makes for strange bedfellows. That said, the Saudi elite have always been far ahead of the rest of the population of the Kingdom (not country). Kinda like going to your average middleclass American guy and saying, "what do you have in common with the folks on Jerry Springer?"

Your point is very well taken. Because of their teachings, I have become very skeptical of their true intentions.

I am sure the art wing will be quite impressive. It's just that pesky little problem I have with "kill all nonbelievers or convert them, meanwhile lie and try to fit in" mantra taught in their mosques that bothers me.

if you went to school in the 90's, so likely your young and not tempered by life's knocks. You sound like typical leftist elitist with your snide comments. I wasn't commenting on the museum, but someone else's posts. I don't care about the donation. A lot of what you think is "anger" is just postings by people who express frustrations in a lively manner. I consider many of the posts typical interactions of, say, guys sitting around after work just "bitching" about events and venting. What is written may come across as "anger" but in a normal verbal conversation would just be good ole conversations to let steam off. In other words, don't read too much into things :) Have a nice day.
