The more important issue is why Hillsborough County officials feel the need to be making decisions about what organizations to hand out money too. Are we to believe that the residents of this country are unable to make their own choices as to what organizations they wish to support financially? Conflicts like this could be avoided by getting government out of the process. Then the flow of dollars to various non-profit groups serving the area would accurately match the priorities and beliefs of the people picking up the tab.
Great point. That's 8 million less tax money from citizens.
Yet I'd still give out a small surplus for some essential non-profit social services for balance - maybe 25% of that.
I guess the voters elect people they believe will spend their money wisely.
