Yup, you can really afford that new $500,000 home with wages from McDonalds or Walmart. A service based economy will NEVER survive.
Try living in Montana where most of our jobs have been replaced by the "service industry".
Loggers made good money here (those who are still in that business still do).
Everyone else works "service industry" at 6 to 8 dollars per hour.
