What a sick B*stard, and he did it where a kid could see it no less! I can't believe this guy still has his job, much less a stint in the local jail. To let those animals suffer like that instead of a quick shot and peaceful death is beyond me.

They used to get rid of strays in NYC that way until the animal cruelty people put a stop to it. Farmers used to put kittens in a burlap bag and drown them. I thought we'd made some progress away from that mentality.

That guy is not only sick; he should lose his job and go to prison for what he did.

It was not all that long ago that this was a common way to rid strays. It may feel better to inject them with something and put them to sleep quietly - which is the way it should be done - but the result is the same in the end.

The world has changed - at least in the U.S. Perhaps this guy is just a hold out from the way things used to be.

I think that in the nineteenth century before the Humane Society got it changed, that NY city had a big cage on skids that it filled with stray dogs during the day and then they put that cage into the river at night.

I make no excuses here.

I love dogs.

But historical perspective always helps.

... a public works supervisor ordered employees to drown six stray dogs at the city sewer plant, rather than having the animals properly euthanized.

City councilman Darrell Richter said the workers took the dogs from the pound to the sewer plant and dropped their cages into the water.

What's up with that, just following orders?

For punishment, the supervisor was ordered to attend classes with animal control officers.

I hope those animal control officers are not the same workers who drowned the dogs.

IMO, they all should be fired.

Yeah, people like this, I would just love to toss them in the back of a C-130, put a "I Hate Islam" T-Shirt on and parachute them right in the middle of Mecca during the Hajj. Or if I can't do that, I am conflicted on capital punishment, tie them to a chair and play nothing but Minnie Ripperton's "Loving You" and The DeFranco Family's "Lovebeat is a Heartbeat" 24/7 as I flash pics of old Tiger Beat covers on a monitor in front of their faces.

Sick bastard is right.

Animals and children are sacred. You do NOT abuse them in front of me. Not if you want to go home with the same amount of arms and legs you left the house with.

The person who drowned the dogs in TX needs to go to jail!

My heart is already broken tonight from the loss of my own pet. Our much beloved cocker spaniel died in her sleep last night. She was almost 14 years old.
I can't imagine hurting a dog. I also can't imagine letting a pet run loose or breed indiscriminately either. Poor doggies without loving families or homes and now drowned.
Sick person!

Here's another story hot off the wire. I suppose this is ok with alot of people too....after all it died almost instantly.....

Police: Angry Man Throws Puppy Off Fifth-Story Balcony

MIRAMAR, Fla. -- Police arrested a Miramar man after they said he threw a 2-month-old black Labrador puppy off his fifth-floor balcony.

Josper Sanon.

Josper Sanon, 49, was upset that the puppy had urinated and defecated inside the apartment, police said. Investigators also said Sanon threw the puppy over the balcony to its death in front of his two sons.

Police said a patrolling officer learned of the crime when he spotted Sanon's son crying in the parking lot of the apartment building. When the officer asked what happened, the 16-year-old told the officer his father killed the puppy by throwing it off the balcony, police said.

The teen then showed the officer where the puppy's body was in the grass nearby, police said.

Sanon is charged with animal cruelty. He is being held on $2,500 bond.

Sanon's sons are staying with a relative while their father remains in jail.
