So, according to your argument, if one did not start a department store chain, one would live forever.
Eureka!
I've kept seventy five pounds off for almost five years now doing just the same thing.
I also do a little planning to make sure I get all the needed nutrients every day, with the idea that this might reduce cravings. Seems to be working. The new USDA food pyramid site has been helpful with this.
I think this one has already been around a few times. I remember my dad following a popular book in the early sixties called "Calories Don't Count". Like the Adkinists today, he ate mostly meat and fatty foods for a few years.
Sorry, that's not much of a marketing hook. It may work, but it'll never sell books!
I do the same thing. I also had to do some eliminations after noticing negative reactions after eating a few foods. Once I eliminated my problem foods the cravings are practically nonexistent.
Purines cause gout to act up. Spinach is high in them, but other leafy green vegetables aren't, AFAIK. Beer and organ meats are also high.
I even get a little political satisfaction in shunning those "foods". They're ubiquitous due to pork barrel subsidies and protectionist quotas, and I'm happy to deny them my business.
I was surprised to find that after breaking old habits, I actually like the healthier foods better. I get more pleasure out of rye crackers and homade salsa than I did out of Lay's potato chips and sour cream.
Real unadulterated foods do taste better and I never thought about the politics either. It makes sense when you think about it. Leave it to the "almighty" gubmint to royally screw things up and then blame everyone but themselves when it backfires.
