I guess you napped through the whole Cold War thing, when our national policy was to destroy every Soviet city even though only 5% of the population was Communist. Must have missed that WW2 thing too, when we fire bombed cities full of women and children to break morale. Nothing new here. Going back to old principles of deterrence. Don't like it, but have to admit it worked. Piss us off enough ( say 3 or 4 US cities go up in a nuclear cloud ) and I think we will want to go Roman, ie think Carthage, and expand to entire M.E.
