NBA Miami Heat stars Shaquille O'neil and Christian Laettner reel in sharks with controversial boat captain Mark Quartiano aka 'Mark the Shark'. 'Mark the Shark' claims to have captured more sharks on rod and reel than any human being on the planet. He’s also been accused of killing federally protected big eye thresher sharks in the past.

Bad timing. People in Florida are less interested in stopping cruelty to sharks these days.

What's with the "hit" piece? The writer claims to be an advocate for fisheries, but a single fishing boat captain is no threat to a species. Commercial fisheries themselves would be a much bigger threat.

I can't tell what the writer hates more:
People fishing and eating fish, or the success of the Miami tourist economy.

he is sprawled across a heap of very large dead sharks. He grins lasciviously at the camera and splays his legs while one hand caresses a fin and the other holds a shark's mouth agape. The tableau is reminiscent of an orgy at a sleazy porno shoot -- "

If Tristram the Reporter really sees and translates the picture in sexual terms, then maybe Tristram needs a 'time-out' after all this florid prose.
