"We are working to convey that this is a community that will be intolerant of violent, illegal, street gang activity," said Raleigh police spokesman Jim Sughrue.

Is this a bad sign for NC or a worse sign for LA and NY?
Or are the laws of the whole country a joke?

Thats kind of a misleading headline....1/3 of California's prison population belongs somewhere south of the border!

And of course the ACLU is trying to undermine making things safer:
A Wake County town trying to crack down on teen violence receives some criticism.
The American Civil Liberties Union of North Carolina is hosting a community forum to talk about the Knightdale curfew Thursday.
The curfew in Knightdale applies to teens 18 years and younger, seven days a week. It's been in place since the end of May.
But the ACLU of North Carolina said it violates the constitution
Knightdale town leaders approved the curfew in an effort to fight gang activity. They say they've seen a lot of graffiti and other signs of gangs in neighborhoods. The curfew starts at 9 p.m. and it doesn't end until 6 a.m. Also under the rules, teens can't gather in groups of more than four people in public places. Parents must pay a $100 fine after the first warning. Repeat violators could pay as much as $400. The ACLU said curfews are not effective law enforcement tools. "Im sure Knightdale doesn't think that they can override the constitution but if kids want to get together to worship, if they want to get together to protest, all kinds of activity that are protected by the first amendment, should be cut out of this curfew, so it's pretty badly written to be honest with you," Jennifer Rudinger of the ACLU explained.
The community forum starts at 7 p.m. Thursday night at the East Regional Library. http://rdu.news14.com/content/your_news/raleigh/default.asp?ArID=72688

You know, if NC really is the go-to place for Mara Salvatrucha and their ilk, I woulda kept the Feeb police actions pretty quiet. Don't broadcast it all over the nooz, that will just warn the gangs to pick another mecca. Let the gangs continue to come there, and let them continue to be scooped up there.

I just got back from a visit to Charlotte, NC. Although I had read over the past few years that there has been a huge influx of hispanic, primarily Mexican immigrants to North Carolina over the past 15 years, I could not believe how large the Mexican population is in Charlotte. It almost appears as if a huge section of Mexico City was uprooted and dropped into southwest Charlotte. There are scores of Mexican grocery stores and restaurants all over the place. Apartment complexes have huge banners written in Spanish trumpeting the move in specials.
I spoke briefly with a life long resident who said there were virtually no Mexicans 15 years ago. The 2000 census estimated that there were over 30,000 in the Charlotte area. They now estimate that there are over 60,000.
My point is that when you have massive, unchecked immigration, of course there are going to be elements of the criminal class that will be part of it.

I have a stepbrother in NC and he has told me about the gangs in that state, particularly Charlotte. He now carries a gun in his car.

But this is not nearly the entire story. First the American citizens will have to pay the legal fees of these swine, then pay for their appeals. Then NC will have to fight with the traitors who run immigration to get them deported, and they will refuse to do it.(When Bush said "No child left behind" what he really meant was no criminal illegal alien ever punished or sent back to their homeland.)
Then some liberal swine Judge in NC will dismiss all the charges due to racial reasons, and they will be back on the streets in five minutes.
