Maybe you should read Atkins' books. It's not a dumb diet; you only think it's dumb if you don't understand it.

I resent the notion that I'm uninformed about Atkins. I have, in fact, read Atkins and South Beach cover to cover. The science is valid, I agree, but it's a short-term solution. The problem with America's diet craze is that people think that they can get thin by eating bacon, seafood and salad. This is faulty and wrong.

Additionally, I've subscribed to Atkins and South Beach. I made significant gains in weight loss, but after while you lose some things that carbohydrates give you.

I've never been an "enriched" anything advocate. I eat whole grains and tons of vegetables. I have a healthy appetite for red meat *gasps from the crowd* and fish. I read and study every new avenue for weight loss available. Four years in college, many hours of sweat and tears, and I am a healthy, albeit heavy, man. I run a 10 minute mile. I bench press 215.

All I'm saying is that the American society, in general, is a society of extremes, and it is automatically assumed that a new "diet" is going to be the magic pill that we've all been waiting for. I look to our ancestors to see how they lived, and they were forced to actually go outside and move around. Sendentary lifestyle is what keeps us fat. All I'm saying is put down the pork rinds and bacon, get your tubby ass off the couch (I can say this, I weigh in at 275) and go outside. It doesn't cost a dime to walk a mile down the street. Mentality must change to downsize our waistlines!
