It was crappy tasting and over priced is why the Atkins Nutritionals did not sell well. Most successful low carbers steer clear of the frankenfoods. They stick to meat, eggs, poultry, seafood, veggies, low glycemic fruits, whole grains, nuts, real fats and moderate amounts of dairy products. They don't eat tons of meat and fat only.
The truth is low carbing has allowed a lot of diabetics and very fat folks lose a lot of weight without feeling like they were starving to death. If people would just read the book and follow the plan as written they would see that the severe limiting of carbs was only for two weeks. Then you add them back in slowly until you find out where you stop losing weight and then reduce the amount back a little to lose weight until you reach your goal.
