NY TIMES INVESTIGATES ADOPTION RECORDS OF SUPREME COURT NOMINEE'S CHILDREN

**Exclusive**

The DRUDGE REPORT has uncovered a plot in the NEW YORK TIMES' newsroom to look into the adoption of the children of Supreme Court Nominee John G. Roberts.

The TIMES has investigative reporter Glen Justice hot on the case to investigate adoption records of Judge Roberts’ two young children, Josie age 5 and Jack age 4, a top source reveals.

Judge Roberts and his wife Jane adopted the children when they each were infants.

Both children were adopted from Latin America.

A TIMES insider claims the look into the adoptions are part of the paper's "standard background check."

Roberts’ young son Jack delighted millions of Americans during his father’s Supreme Court nomination announcement ceremony when he wouldn’t stop dancing while the President and his father spoke to a national television audience.

Previously the WASHINGTON POST Style section had published a story criticizing the outfits Josie’s and Jack’s mother had them wear at the announcement ceremony.

One top Washington official with knowledge of the NEW YORK TIMES’ plans declared: “Trying to pry into the lives of the Roberts’ family like this is despicable. Children’s lives should be off limits. The TIMES is putting politics over fundamental decency.”

One top Republican official when told of the situation was incredulous. “This can’t possibly be true?”

Wasn't the NYT the ones who were wanting to know if Roberts believed in privacy?

Only pure pond scum would drag adopted kid's records into this. I know from experience there could well be things in there those kids won't be ready to handle until they are much older.

This is a new low for the New York Slimes.

Not so many Vikings made it to Latin America, eh? ;)

But many Italians (northern and Southern), Germans, French and Spaniards (yes, there are blonde, blue-eyed Spaniards) did.

My guess - and others - is that ultimately this is going to be about playing the race card, about Roberts' insisting on white children and shunning poor babies-of-color.
------
The real tragedy in this typical left-wing spin trap, is that not only do his children have anything to do with his ability to perform on the SCOTUS, but Roberts supporters (wherever they are hiding) are not standing up and slamming this generic character-assissination attempt -- that is the sad part.

Where are Roberts supporters, and where are the Repubs that should NEVER LET ANOTHER BORK-ING EVER TAKE PLACE AGAIN??? Where is the Repub Party ????

Even in the most Spanish of countries it is not unusual to see blond haired children.

One must remember that the English occupied many parts of South America during the fifteenth century.

I am sure that they left more than a few ancestors behind.

Some of the remarks I am reading leads me to believe that many posting on this forum failed seventh grade World History.

I guess they were to busy learning politically correct ways to put on a condom.

There used to be a red-headed Argentinian woman in my office, and she said it was her natural color. However, her features were Hispanic.

There are more people with Italian last names in the Buenos Aires phonebook than there are with Spanish last names. There was a brief period in the 1920s-1940s (when large scale migration from Paraguay and Bolivia began) where Argentina was as white, if not whiter, than the U.S.

Your point that "white babies wouldn't be in the same orphanages as others" implied a racial bias on the part of the Roberts that I think was unjustified. I had already made the point that all Latin American's aren't "hispanic looking". Guess I was confused by what you mean by "I am commenting on the very real phenomena of color in Latin American countries."

and exactly what is the nytimes trying to find? this is total crap.

You mark my words. A week before the hearings they will parade around a weepy latin Anita Hill who will claim to be the mother, and claim that she was coerced, and demand that the kids be returned.

I am shaking. Literally.

The reason for me mentioning these things is because .. it is very possible for the Roberts kids hair will eventually turn dark as they get older

That's true and, like you said, really common. My husband is half Italian and had straight strawberry blonde hair when he was young. It's now very dark brown and curly. He showed me his kindergarten class picture and I couldn't even pick him out! LOL!

The NYT is now trying to get 4 and 5 year old orphans deported out of the country as a way of hurting the adoption father.

That is more than a little "King Herod"-like IMO.

That is the most disgusting part of what the New York Slimes is trying to do.

It is hard to believe that this paper is the leading voice for the Democratic Party.

What was wrong with the clothes, I thought they were such great outfits.

Well the little girl's belly was not bared, the little boy's pants were actually around his waist, there were no piercings, tatoos, their hair looked to be their natural color, etc.
Bottom line, the left does not recognize class and good taste when they see it.

My dad (Polish) had ultra-blonde (think young Rick Schroeder) hair that turned dark brown as he got older.

I guarentee you they are going to be looking at the country merely be a conduit. Don't be hypersensitive on the race issue. The only question about their race is with little white kids being a rarity in most of Latin America what strings had to be pulled to jump ahead in what I am sure is a sizable waiting list among European looking Latin American couples waiting for adoption.

Like I said the kids most likely didn't originate in that country. The adoption probably just took place there.

Washington Post:

**....It has been a long time since so much syrupy nostalgia has been in evidence at the White House. But Tuesday night, when President Bush announced his choice for the next associate justice of the Supreme Court, it was hard not to marvel at the 1950s-style tableau vivant that was John Roberts and his family.

There they were -- John, Jane, Josie and Jack -- standing with the president and before the entire country. The nominee was in a sober suit with the expected white shirt and red tie. His wife and children stood before the cameras, groomed and glossy in pastel hues -- like a trio of Easter eggs, a handful of Jelly Bellies, three little Necco wafers. There was tow-headed Jack -- having freed himself from the controlling grip of his mother -- enjoying a moment in the spotlight dressed in a seersucker suit with short pants and saddle shoes. His sister, Josie, was half-hidden behind her mother's skirt. Her blond pageboy glistened. And she was wearing a yellow dress with a crisp white collar, lace-trimmed anklets and black patent-leather Mary Janes.
...
The wife wore a strawberry-pink tweed suit with taupe pumps and pearls, which alone would not have been particularly remarkable, but alongside the nostalgic costuming of the children, the overall effect was of self-consciously crafted perfection.
...
In a time when most children are dressed in Gap Kids and retailers of similar price-point and modernity, the parents put young master Jack in an ensemble that calls to mind John F. "John-John" Kennedy Jr...They are not classic; they are old-fashioned. These clothes are Old World, old money and a cut above the light-up/shoe-buying hoi polloi....***

Maybe I would be a bad reporter, but it would never even occur to me to check into Roberts' adoption records. It just goes to show you how these scum think, how nothing is sacred, and what crude and vicious people they are.

Yep - the Times wanted this made public - now the question becomes why. So far the intimidation angle is the one that makes the most sense.

From what I can tell of Glen Justice .. he followed the finances of candidates during the election cycle

Well I think the major [and disgusting] story here is that the NYSlimes has stooped too low, not that there will be anything damning in the "investigation."
