Prolacta Bioscience has opened the first large-scale breastmilk processing facility in the nation.
The Monrovia facility will accept donated milk from milk banks around the nation and use various pasteurization, formulation and filling processes to produce high-quality donor milk with specific calorie, fat and protein content meant for premature babies.
After processing, the milk can be shipped to hospitals nationwide to help treat premature babies.
"By opening this facility, we will take the burden of processing this donor milk off the shoulders of the local milk banks and provide a system that can be relied upon by physicians, nurses and parents in their efforts to care for sick or preterm babies," CEO Elena Medo said in a statement.
Ah, you're just "expressing" yourself..(g)
Why this is udderly ridiculous!
But NOT too shabby for 7am, eh?
First, it is 'determined' that COWS are causing smog. Within days, news hits that a breastmilk plant is opened. So, I guess the gist is: Ban the Cows; Bring on the Mamas.. (lol).
ping!
I'd like a tour of the plant. Wonder if it meets OSHA/PETA standards.
Finally, a company that succeeds by going bust.
Prolactic is trying to stay abreast of the market.
Dear Sir or Madam, it was my own foolishness in not changing the calender -- the article post date is 08-04-05 (not 08-07-05). Can you change this, pls? Much appreciated.
Whatever happened to the wet nurse?
But yes, I remember in my own lifetime.. the "wet nurse". Maybe they all became nannies; but drew the line at wet nursing?
