I went to the Iowa State fair one year in the 1990's, it is massive. I like the legs of chicken meat that come right off the rack, no utensiles required.
The Iowa State Fair is the greatest! I try to go for one entire day and then one evening. The food is awesome and the people watching compares to nothing. Be prepared to see all the '08 presidential contenders on the evening shows next to a 4-H kid and their ribbon-winning animal with a hay bale in the background--it is a tradition.
