I was put off by the "racism" charge in the first paragraph. The Chinese are as xenophobic and clannish as anyone else. Elitism is a human fault, not an American one.
This fool is a fool.

Oh the socialists have been putting out this little meme for 10 years. This goes along with "people sleeping under bridges," and "slums in Harlem." They don't, and there aren't any.

I hear this all the time in the EU, even from people that have lived in the US and should know better.

What is particularly funny is the Harlem bit. Most Europeans could not even afford a small studio in Harlem right now, the reference to places like Bed-Sty or Harlem shows that they are coming right out of Communist agit-prop right out of the 1960's.

America is the least "racist" place on the planet. It is particularly funny to hear this one come out of the mouths of Europeans or Asians. I guarantee you that you will never see a black mayor of Beijing, Paris, Bonn or Tokyo.

As an aside, whenever I here this in my travel and the situation allows, I tel them "A free people are not equal and an equal people are not free." The reaction to that one is a joy to behold. They actually short circuit for about 20 seconds. The world in in a collect state of self delusion and rationalization.

Sometimes I think that we should actively counter all this spin with the fact, but as an old rhetoric teach once told me, it is pointless to throw a ball of there is no one there to catch it.

Best that we go about our business.

If the US can cast out the socialism of the last sixty years, restore our traditions and our liberties, I imagine that historians will look back at this time and say that, yet again, America had the leading vision. This may even apply to the reemergence of faith in the public square.

Ironically, Bush - and the Party and Nation he leads - may come out of this period of history with the best claim to forward looking, courageous and visionary leadership,

It may be that the Left is marked as the reactionary and crudely backward looking movement.

The racism charge is definately full blown maoist thought. The author is a communist bastard to put it bluntly.

You should read the crap they print about the American Indians!

Its sickening that people in charge of anything can actually be so ignorant.

He wasn't talking about China but rather expressing almost amazement that America has gone from stone racism to having descendents of slaves at the highest levels of power. And that its strength was significantly augmented by the use of talent from every area of the globe. And he didn't even mention the Jews from Europe creating the A bomb.

He would be just as critical of China for its racist tendencies I have no doubt.
