The woman at the center of New Jersey Sen. Jon Corzine's latest political brouhaha is no shrinking violet she's a well-educated, hard-driving, tough-talking rabble-rouser.
But one thing Carla Katz, boss of New Jersey's most powerful union, won't sound off on is the controversy surrounding the $470,000 loan-turned-gift she got from wannabe-governor Corzine, who's also her former boyfriend.
"She shouldn't have to explain herself to anyone," said a worker at West Trenton-based Local 1034 of the Communications Workers of America.......
The tall, tanned brunette met the rumpled, bespectacled Corzine in 1999, when he was still married to his childhood sweetheart, Joanne, and Katz was married to Larry McKim, an artist and high-school teacher.
Katz was working on Corzine's 2000 Senate campaign and was no political novice.
Insiders recently told New York magazine the Katz-Corzine romance was engineered by then-Sen. Robert Torricelli, Corzine's political mentor.
Katz divorced in 2001. Corzine divorced in 2003 with his ex-wife claiming the campaign had a "noxious" effect on their marriage.

So the hot pastrami was thrown into the ragu of romance by the pot-stirring godfather.
These people make me sick. The "tolerant and compassionate" lefties have no sense of decency whatsoever.
To Torisilly and the rest of the scumbag Dumbocrats, that the two "lovebirds" were married to other people was immaterial to the deal.
In the liberal mindset, as long as the two were getting it on, what the hey. Have a little fun. So what if your spouses get hurt.
Who knows what Torisilly got out of the matchmaking deal. Musta been a doozie.
Where I come from we have a name for women like that.
I remember in the 2000 Senate Campaign, the two contenders, Bob Franks and John Corzine were members of the same congregation in Summit, New Jersey. The members all went on and on about how they were both equally good men and there was nothing to choose between them, morally or ethically speaking.
I wonder how the congregation feel about all that mindless bloviating today, since Corzine was boffing this doxie at that very time, and has since turned his private life into a train wreck. I am sure Bob Franks is still there every Sunday, but I noticed that the Corzine bio now lists his religious affiliation as "non-denominational".
That name only applies to the women who sell themselves for far less. When you sell yourself for $470,000, it's almost respectable...
Morning, Lizzie....told ya so last week....he was fooling arund while married, but, Hey..it's just sex..
I think the GOP has a good chance of winning the state house. Because the state is so heavily Dem, the voters need a reason to vote AGAINST Corzine, and he's giving them several..remmber, he also refused to release details of any other deals like this, even though the NY Times demanded he do so...He may lose the Times' endorsement..
The Times endorsement? No problem, as long as he has the Mob's endorsement. That's a sure bet, in the PRNJ.
If he had a "Clinton Special" PIPE JOB it was definitely not sex. Clinton said so under oath!!!!!!!
Cats $acks Gold man. Torch lights fire. Democratic Devolution.
Why did they break up, because they aren't married anymore and it is no longer adultery?
That attitude explains why the rank-and-file keep getting screwed.
And you give a $470,000 mortgage loan to someone you know can't repay it because????
And what does he mean she can't repay him? She makes 100K a year!
with his ex-wife claiming the campaign had a "noxious" effect on their marriage.
I don't think I have ever heard anyone describe a marriage break-up quite like this before!
Good points, Oxen. Of course she could repay that mortgage.
Q. Why are New Yorkers all so depressed?
A. The light at the end of their tunnel is New Jersey.
Democrats?
If New Jersey votes for Corzine the CROOK, you will have the largest taxes in the USA.
New Jersey is now the second highest TAX state !!
