The Republican Party in New York hasn't had a successful candidate for statewide office in several generations who has been to the right of Karl Marx. Dennis Vacco (successful until he told to Conservative Party to go F themselves, thereby handing the AG office to Spitzer) and George Pataki v.1994, for starters.
And running Karl Marx for office is not a good way to accomplish .... anything.

New York is a lost cause, so it really doesn't make any difference whether the GOP runs Pirro, Karl Marx, or Ronald McDonald.
