An alleged home invasion suspect in Orange County, Fla., was shot and killed over the weekend after a homeowner he just robbed chased him until police could get involved, according to Local 6 News.
Investigators said four men with guns burst into a home located on Livingston in Pine Hills, Fla., after midnight Sunday.
The men allegedly ordered the family, even the children, to lie face down on a floor during the invasion, police said.
After stealing some jewelry, the men fled, police said. However, the homeowner chased after them and shots were apparently exchanged, according to Local 6 News.
"It goes to show you, we have had quite a few home invasions, just how dangerous they are, Orange County Sheriff's spokeswoman Barbara Miller said. "This one became more dangerous when the victims actually followed the suspects until police could get involved. Thankfully our training proved helpful."
The other suspects were tracked to Apopka, Fla., where they allegedly fired shots at a deputy.
One of the men was shot and killed and another was captured, according to the report. Two other men allegedly involved in the home invasion remain on the loose, Local 6 News reported Sunday night.
Police said the family was shaken by the incident, but there were no reported injuries.

In this particular case the homeowner's actions proved a lot more helpful than the officers' training, but Barbara fails to mention that. All she could muster was that the situation became "more dangerous" when the homeowner took off after the perp.
....more dangerous for the invaders, that is.
Too bad only ONE bought the farm, but one is better than NONE.
Homeowner will be charged with murder because he didn't have the forethought to drag the body back inside the house.
Spokeswoman Barbara Miller should be thankful that 2 out of 4 scumbag robbers are in jail and not out in the streets.
And they all lived happily ever after...except for the one who is burning in everlasting torment, and the other one who is sitting in jail...and the other two who are waiting for the cops to bust into their home and drag them away kicking and screaming.
Looks to me like the cop killed him. The homeowner just chased him.
It sounds like the deputies shot him so the homeowner may only be facing attempted murder charges.
SNORT.
Good shootin'. The Florida Castle Doctrine law needs to go into effect to prevent frivolous lawsuits against homeowner victims of invasion.
>>>This one became more dangerous when the victims actually followed the suspects until police could get involved.>>>
Yes, the proper thing to do would be to call the police who would come out, snoop around and 'make a report'. Then the report would sit in the endless 'report file' until... well until the end of times.
It implies the homeowner chased AND killed them.
Looks to me like the cop killed him. The homeowner just chased him with his cellphone after dialing 911.
I am sure there are exceptions, but journalism schools do not attract the brightest students to start with. Anyone who's had to deal with the press can, I think, confirm that.
Yeah Sheriff paper work is safer than police work. Can't you nail the homeowner on some thing?
Alleged good job to all involved.
Kudos to the homeowner for not giving up!
Also true for Georgia and Louisiana -- but not Texas (unless a change in last couple of years ).
They may not be just sitting at home waiting. They may have the stupidity to return to the crime scene for retaliation.
