heck yeah i'll say i was ripped off! my JeeP is currently listed at $17K.
seriously though, a huge factor in this is whether or not the value is actually what is paid. if i look today and see my car is worth $1500, and that was what was left is totally different from my vehicle being worth $5000, and someone declaring it "salvage" and now only worth $1500.
of course, they also have to look at any modifications, upgrades, sentimental value, etc.
