Try being a heavily tattooed mid-20's-year-old rock musician and coming out as a libertarian / conservative.

People accept your stance on ending the drug war (for different reasons than their own, of course), but everything else cuts you off from folks pretty quickly.

Then tell them you're a Christian and they're totally disgusted!

Same thing when you're an artist. People just kind of assume that since I can draw, I must be a liberal. Must be something in the oil paints (I've only used acrylics).

And then they find out I'm a Republican! Good grief, don't I know that my party wants to kill the NEA? (YES! I'll hold it down, while Condi Rice stomps it to death with her stiletto heels! Let these looneys find a PATRON, or produce SALABLE ART, but don't make my tax money pay for chicken footprints on a canvas, for crying out loud!)

Oh dear... was I ranting? Time for a cocktail, and then to bed, I think...

I just said a prayer for that heavily tattooed mid-20's-year-old rock musician. All we actually need is our faith to sustain us. Rock on brother.
