When I walked to school in the early 60s, I passed a house that had an atomic bomb shelter in the backyard. It was eerie to look at - a metal cylinder about 20 -25 feet in diameter, half buried, with an air vent protruding from the top. I've often wondered if it's still there, and whether it was considered a "feature" or a "get-that-thing-outta-here" when the house was sold.

Mr RB grew up in a house that had one of these in the backyard. They turned it into a wine cellar. They did sell the house with it there. We drive by that house occasionally and I think it's still there.

There's always a hard core of survivalists who might want such a shelter, but I don't think many of them are living in Seattle's Wedgwood neighborhood.

You're missing the point Steve. Those people who wouldn't want a shelter are the exact same people who would fall for "it's a custom built wine cellar". You just have to speak their language.
