Jimmy Carter,'recidivist fibber'
The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review ^ | 08/11/05 | George F. Will

Posted on 08/10/2005 9:50:14 PM PDT by smoothsailing

Ronald Reagan won because he won the only debate. He won it not because of Carter's debate performance ("I had a discussion with my daughter, Amy, the other day, before I came here, to ask her what the most important issue was. She said she thought nuclear weaponry ... "), but only because Reagan had Carter's briefing book. And Reagan had it because this columnist gave it to him.

How do I phrase this so I don't get banned?

Jimmy Carter is a lying sack of ...dirt. He was a horrible president who gave Islamofascism a huge boost, for one thing. He deserves credit for various things he did in his post-presidency--he did what no one else did in terms of some simple requests which helped save sick Africans, for example--but his single act of aiding the rise of the current wave of anti-American Muslim fanaticism wipes out ALL of those good deeds. His fighting against the US in the run up to the Gulf War, his embracing of terrorists and dictators, and his virulent mean streak make him one of the few people who I would spit at if I ever met him.

LOL. Good post. Carter is pathetic. Poor George Will, he would be the last journalist I would suspect of stealing Carter's briefing book.

LOL, I had totally forgotten about the anecdote about what Amy Carter supposedly said to her father. She was, what, 7 or 8 years old? I don't know, but it seemed like hogwash to me back then.

The saddest night of my political life (before BJC) was when Jimmuh got elected. The happiest day (before President Bush's election and then re-election) was when Jimmuh was soundly defeated against the late, great Ronaldus Maximus! It would make me ecstatically happy to see Jimmuh STHU and disappear into obscurity.

It's heartwarming to read this evidence of what a doofus President Carter is, and always has been.

While I agree with you on Carters in office abysmal performance, I have to disagree with his post presidential actions.

His vote watching for one thing is horrible, Venezuela comes to mind. He never met a commie he didnt like, Castro is his soul mate.

And if anyone posts a picture of Amy Carter I will find naked pictures of Helen Thomas and email them to you every day for a year!

Carter's such an ass. If he wanted to do his so-called "legacy" a favor, he should disappear back into the peanut field and hope people forget what a jerk he really is.

The typical Dimocrap EX-President working on building the legacy that never existed.

Carter and Clinton will be remembered for what they are...habitual liars.

LOL!If I remember correctly,Carter quoted Amy during the debate!

I remember talking to friends at the time about how reasurring it was that Carter was getting national security advice from an 8 year-old!

What a clueless buffoon.

I don't see much disagreement between us; he DID do some worthwhile things, but as I said the bad far outweighs the good. His whoring for the Nobel Prize was really embarassing, and shows he isn't nearly the Christian he wants us to think he is. (I always get a kick when liberals whine about how Reagan and now Bush put "religion into politics"--paging MLK, paging Jimmuh Born Again Carter.)

Up until a year or so ago it was still possible to see many FReepers essentially say that even though he was a real fumblebuck as president Carter was still a good guy at heart. It's good to see that so many have seen the light.

Anybody, especially someone who has been president, who so despises America and Americans, and blames them first for everything bad in the world is not a good guy.

I know who nabbed the briefing book. It was the rabbit.

Yes, he is a doofus, but he's very intelligent in some areas. He clearly doesn't grasp the big picture, though.

He was a horrible president who gave Islamofascism a huge boost, for one thing.

In regards the handling of Iran and the fall of the Shah, he took the advice of one Warren Christopher - one of the many Carter Administration failures that Clinton selected for major positions in his first term.

If memory serves, it was Henry Kissinger who said something to the effect that the problem wasn't that Carter did not know, but that he did not know that he did not know.

Carter jumped the shark when he sat next to Michael Moore at the 'Rat convention last year. He has become a pathetic joke. Bubba IMHO is a better ex-President than this walking disaster area. He was and is the opposite of Midas -- everything he touches turns to sh*t.
