This entire ordeal could have been prevented, except that a "wall" that was erected by Gorelick prevented the FBI access to the names of these terrorists. A quick background check in 2000 would have shown that all four were enrolled in flying schools. In fact, one instructor mentioned, in retrospect, that his two students were only interested in learning to steer the planes and they showed no compulsion on learning how land the aircrafts.
