INDIANAPOLIS -- An Indiana mother is dealing with the killing of a daughter for the second time.
Thursday evening, Evelyn Sheese stared at an image of her daughter, Summer, that had been captured on her cell phone two weeks ago.
Thursday morning, a Marion County Sheriff's Department chaplain delivered painful news.
"He said that he had some bad news about my daughter and I thought, 'Oh my God, not Summer,' and he said, 'Yes, your daughter's been murdered,'" Sheese said.
Twenty-five-year-old Summer Sheese's body was found Thursday in the trunk of a car that was parked at a home in the 1800 block of West 66th Street.
According to the Marion County coroner, she had been beaten, strangled and stabbed multiple times in the face.
"Who could have done such a tragic thing and taken her life -- such a beautiful girl, I mean, what reason?" Sheese asked.
Paul Mayes, 32, has been arrested, but hasn't been charged with anything. He's been termed a person of interest.
Police said he had access to the car, which is owned by his grandmother.
The Sheese family is reliving a nightmare. Nearly seven years ago, Summer's younger sister, Shannon, was found beaten to death on East Market Street.
The girls' mother told RTV6's Jeremy Brilliant she sometimes has to search deep to find strength.
"You can't go cry every day of your life, but your heart's crying. You have to just go on," Sheese said.
Two women and a man were convicted of killing Shannon Sheese. They are currently serving their terms.
Evelyn Sheese hopes that those responsible for Summer's death are tried, convicted and locked up for good.
Is the mom going to road trip down to Crawford and blame Bush?
Boy, I'm not at all sure that I could. I hope they find who did this for whatever little comfort she might find in that.
Stuff like this leaves me speechless. I have been having a hard time lately accepting the existance of suffering and pain. then again, it's not like I have a choice. None of us does. But it's tough to take, and makes it hard for a person like me with very limited faith to begin with.
My comment was not directed at the mother in this. It was directed at the hypocrisy of Cindy Sheehan's claims.
Har,har - your comment was inappropriate and has nothing to do at all with this poor woman. She must be in agony...
Are you close friends with her? Har, har.
"Is the mom going to road trip down to Crawford and blame Bush?"
LOL.....my exact thought.....
How tragic. I don't know how anyone could ever recover from that.
No I'm not. I'm a mother and my heart bleeds for this woman. I still don't find you comment funny at all. Try and imagine losing two children......
"My comment was not directed at the mother in this. It was directed at the hypocrisy of Cindy Sheehan's claims."
I am with you, NathanBookman...same goes for me
I hope the reporter got that wrong.
"Try and imagine losing two children...."
I can't. I only have one kid. I guess I could first imagine having a second kid and then imagine losing my current kid and her imaginary sibling. What was the question again?
"Is the mom going to road trip down to Crawford and blame Bush?"
Idiot statement of the day.
Check back later. I should be able to top that by this afternoon.
Chill dude - no sense pulling a Dim-type smear on ther poor family. Prayers are more in order.
OK, I'll pray that no one else comments back to me. If my prayers do not work, I will renounce my Catholicism. Plus, I am still kinda ticked that my Lotto prayers have come up empty so far.
Not a good idea.
