Friday, Aug. 12, 2005 11:14 a.m. EDT Clinton Lawyers: Mohamed Atta Off-Limits

A year before the 9/11 attacks, Clinton administration lawyers told a group of military intelligence officers that information they had developed on 9/11 ringleader Mohamed Atta could not be shared with the FBI, saying of Atta himself: "You can't even touch him - it doesn't matter what information you have."

Rep. Curt Weldon, who helped develop the military intelligence group code-named "Able Danger," delivered the bombshell revelation in an interview Thursday with WABC Radio host Sean Hannity.

WELDON: In September of 2000 we tried on three occasions to take the information we had developed and pass it along to the FBI so they could follow up and take action against this [al-Qaida] cell and perhaps bring in Atta and question him and do whatever else was necessary. Three times we were turned down by lawyers in the administration.

HANNITY: We're talking about lawyers in the Clinton administration?

WELDON: Yes, it was the Clinton administration. Lawyers said there were two reasons why you can't do that. And they even put stickies over the face of Mohamed Atta on this chart they had. They said: "He's here legally. He's either got a green card or he's got a visa. So you can't even touch him - it doesn't matter what information you have." [END OF EXCERPT]

Moments later, Weldon said he was determined to find out who it was who ultimately gave the order to protect the lead 9/11 hijacker.

WELDON: The American people need to have answers. They need to have answers about who made the decision to stop our military intelligence from sharing information with the FBI, and how high up the ladder that went.

Did it stop at DoD? Or was the Justice Department involved in that decision? Or was the White House involved in that decision? [END OF EXCERPT]

Everything these criminals have done and continue to do, goes away. '08 looms and the Dems and their presstitute enablers will allow nothing to stand in the way of the Shebeast.

This is such pure, unadulterated baloney.

The information the operatives from Able Danger found was from open sources and they should have been permitted to talk with the FBI since they didn't obtain their information through the methods outlined in The Wall memo.

Clinton absolutely didn't want to deal with jihadists in our own country and did everything he could to deflect attention away from them.

He is the indirect cause of 9/11.

trust me if a Freeper finds that video

Believe me, I believe what you are saying. I too wish the video I saw could be located.

May I suggest that you put as much specific info as possible on FR - date, time, network - anything you can remember and maybe someone can find it. It's pretty amazing what people in cyberspace can do, as witness the Rathergate matter. Good luck.

This smells like someone was getting a payoff, and if so, it is TREASON and a capital crime!

I want to know who the names of the lawyers that made those statements.

"I wanna know why the 9/11 commission did not interview GORELICK??? Why?"

They didn't want to!! I heard (I think on Rush's show) that the Republicans picked half of the commission members and the RATs picked the other half. The RATs picked GORE-LICKER precisely because they didn't want her to be in the position to have to testify and either tell the truth (fat chance) or perjure herself. The RATs were afraid of what might come out to hurt their precious Bubba's "legacy."

Does anyone remember who was running in New York right around this time?

Does anyone remember that a big deal being made, at the time, about some pardons that were granted (or that were up to be granted) at the time?

If I recall correctly, that was the one and only Hildebeast.

Isn't it entirely conceivable that the Clinton administration didn't want to taint the Hildebeast's run in NY by being branded "anti-immigration"?

I'm just asking the question.

Excellent thought!! I completely agree. Think of the 'body count' surrounding the Klintoonista's, and all the other 'highly questionable' BS. So, if you have a couple people in the Presidencey that will do anything for fame and fortune, add a Jamie Hindlick Gorelick aspiring to become US Attorney General (who also BTW sits on the Council for Foreign Relations), the DNC an other Lefties saying anything and doing whatever to 'win' whatever election; sprinkle that into the game of Capitol Hill cutthroat backstabbing politics, and well....kinda F'n hard not to come to such a conclusion? Would be like denying the existence of the sun, would it not?

"Nothing to see hear....just bend over and then move along."

I've seen it coming since Slick took the office in '92. Told my wife this country has lost it's mind to elect the SOB. "IF people only really knew more about him." Slick's a most brilliant politician, just not much in the character department. That's why I put the "F'n" in the above comment....please forgive.

This is the kind of story that hugh hewitt would be all over, non-stop----BUT, he is on vacation...

I am shocked that I am not seeing more discussion/reaction on Laura Ingraham, Rush, et al.
They are talking about it but almost tangentially (I admit I only caught the tail end of what Rush was saying just a bit ago--maybe he went longer and deeper into it?!) I'm hearing tons of talk about the NARAL ad and Cindy Sheehan. Laura did have a phone interview with Rep. Weldon this a.m. but then almost no follow-up or callers with comments...I am baffled.
I agree with Michael Savage--this should be ALL that anyone is discussing and researching to see precisely where it leads.

You reckon Bill left a time bomb behind? If Al won, he'd hand him the keys to defuse it, and if W won, he'd just leave it in place?

I could believe this could have happened.
