While Iraq is now called a main front in the war on terror, former President Bill Clinton said yesterday said he never really saw it as such.
"I never thought [Iraq] had much to do with the war on terror, except that we were looking to see if there were biological and chemical agents there," he told CNN's "Situation Room."
And though he said it's too late now, Clinton said he thought the UN weapons inspectors should have been allowed to complete their job: "The UN inspections were well-advised. But it was clearly not going to have anything to do with Al Qaeda."
The Bush administration, in particular Vice President Cheney, has linked deposed dictator Saddam Hussein to Osama Bin Laden's Al Qaeda network.
As for his wife, the former President insisted that Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) is not a candidate for President - even though sources have told the Daily News he will be her chief strategist if and when she does run.
"She's not a candidate," Bill Clinton said, "and I don't know that she will be ... I am convinced in my own mind she hasn't decided on that. I believe I would know if she had."
OK, but the sacks aren't going to like it.
Is your wife running for President? Bubba: "Please define "running..."
