Sarah Linden. Professional staff member. Special Agent from FBI’s Washington, DC Field Office, Counterterrorism Program. Previously served as an FBI intelligence analyst working international terrorism investigations in San Francisco and at FBI Headquarters.

Douglas MacEachin. Professional staff member. Retired career CIA analyst who left CIA in 1995 as the Deputy Director for Intelligence. Has since become a historian, publishing four books and monographs on the intelligence-policy relationship (most recently on the Polish crisis of 1980-1981, published by Penn State UP). Has just completed a classified study on the current terrorist target.

James Miller. Consultant. Retired Postal Inspector experienced in emergency preparedness planning, and money laundering investigations.

Kelly Moore. Consultant. Previously worked for the State Dept.’s Coordinator for Counterterrorism. Served as Press Secretary to Sen. Joe Lieberman and as a Spokesperson for the United Nations in Bosnia and for the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunal (“war crimes tribunal”).

Charles Pereira. Consultant. Currently Senior Aerospace Engineer in the Vehicle Performance Division of the National Transportation Safety Board, with responsibility for investigating aviation, rail, and marine accidents. Some prior aviation investigations include the 1991 mid-air collision involving Senator John Heinz, the 1994 intentional crash of a Cessna 172 into the White House area, TWA Flight 800, USAir Flight 427, the USAF 737 crash in Croatia involving Secretary of Commerce Ron Brown, the Aviation Charter, Inc. crash in Minnesota involving Senator Paul Wellstone, and the crash of the Space Shuttle Columbia.

Michael Hurley
Senior Director of Policy
Michael Hurley, a career CIA officer, has twenty-one years in that organization. He served on the 9/11 Commission’s staff as a senior counsel and director of the counterterrorism policy investigation. In the course of the investigation into the September 11 attacks on the United States, the team he headed interviewed more than 150 officials and reviewed hundreds of thousands of pages of sensitive documents. His team took the lead in organizing the March 2003 public hearings of highest-level officials of the Clinton and Bush administrations, and the early April public hearing of Dr. Condoleezza Rice, President Bush’s national security advisor. His team drafted substantial portions of the policy chapters of the Commission’s final report.

On 9/11 Michael Hurley volunteered to work in CIA’s Counterterrorist Center and to deploy to Afghanistan. He served three tours in Afghanistan post-9/11, leading Agency employees and Special Forces in southeastern Afghanistan. He was one of the Agency’s lead coordinators on the ground of Operation Anaconda, the largest battle against al Qaeda in the campaign in Afghanistan.

From 1998 – 1999, and again in 2000, he was detailed to the National Security Council, where he was director for the Balkans, and advised the national security advisor and the president on Balkans policy. Over the past decade he has been a leader in U.S. interventions in troubled areas: Kosovo (1999 – 2000); Bosnia (1995 – 1996); and Haiti (during the U.S. intervention, 1994 – 1995). Michael Hurley has held a range of management positions at CIA headquarters and served multiple tours of duty in western Europe. He speaks French and Spanish fluently.

Michael Hurley is an attorney. He began his career in Minneapolis as a trial attorney and a specialist in appellate advocacy.

Working with Kean, Hamilton, Kojm, Marcus, and others, Zelikow recruited others qualified to work on the kind of report we had envisioned. Michael Hurley was a career officer in the CIA's Directorate of Operations, but he also had a law degree and happened to be an avid reader of history. Having represented the CIA on the National Security Council staff, he, too, brought to the commission a useful personal network. Another catch--to mention only one of several--was Lloyd Salvetti, another CIA operations officer. His last post had been as head of the CIA's internal think tank, the Center for the Study of Intelligence. There, he had worked closely with Zelikow and me on a Harvard executive program for senior intelligence analysts, part of which had involved developing historical case studies for classroom use. Yet another--to mention only one more--was former New Jersey attorney general John Farmer, recruited by Kean.

Just to add a connection to the Plame leak investigation:
Snell and two other senior Department of Justice officials (Valerie Caproni, chief of the criminal division for the EDNY (Eastern District of New York) and Patrick Fitzgerald, head of terrorism and organized crime in the SDNY (Southern District of New York) knew of the intelligence coming from Yousef, in the spring of 1996.

Rep. Curt Weldon said today on Fox News that there are 15 unexamined boxes of documents(!), and now 11 witnesses(!!), (NOT just 1), who are willing to testify under oath.

He also is calling for 9/11 Staffers to be questioned under oath re: their evident negligence, &/or close-mindedness, &/or cover-up behavior, and/or stonewalling.
