I find this very disheartening. I think we should all call our congressman, esp republicans, and discourage it. Imagine if the political party was reversed, and someone camped outside, say the WH, an arrest would be definate.
I plan to call my congressman and senators and ask them to show a little backbone by standing up against this nonsense.
http://www.wacotrib.com/news/content/news/stories/2005/08/13/20050813waccounterprotest.html Sounds like the residents of Crawford are already doing that.....
Ray Meadows, McLennan County commissioner for the precinct that includes Crawford, said he has received numerous calls from people living along Prairie Chapel Road, complaining about disruptions caused by the protestors. Meadows said he understands a group of residents plan to bring a petition to next Tuesday's commissioners court asking for them to do something about the demonstrators.
They are just afraid somebody's going to get hurt with all the people along that road, Meadows said. It's a safety issue for the 20 or so families living out in that area. I understand last night some couldn't get through at times because the road was blocked.
And also from the same article.....
More demonstrators are expected to arrive in Crawford today, both for and against Bush and his policies in Iraq. Another Dallas-area radio station has asked its listeners to rally for the president Saturday morning on Prairie Chapel Road. Also, the conservative group Free Republic has a rally set for noon in downtown Crawford.
