With a nudge from Congress, federal regulators are intensifying their efforts to sweep up the remaining fallout from California's energy crisis.

Five years after consumers in San Diego started feeling the pinch of rising electricity prices --

a symptom of a larger crisis that ultimately cost the state billions of dollars and unmasked widespread price manipulation -- the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission appears determined to close the books on the issue.

"I want to accelerate California refunds. I want to close out the California proceedings," Joseph Kelliher, the new FERC chairman, said during his first day on the job last month.

The commission has also been encouraging the settlement of various cases, such as the $1.5 billion deal announced between the state and Enron Corp. in July.......

The investigation problems are not relevant to my point.

I have queried through ANWAR, coal, nuclear...... unable to locate anything which does not bastardize either our use or our desire to become more independent. Why must we destroy ourselves in the name of a minority of contumacious mindsets? Where are the stories which demonstrate the need to become more self-sufficient with energy in order to support our economy? Why does the media deface the obvious, imports will eventually destroy us. Why does the media conceal the outrageous increase in imports starting during the Clinton administration and explain why they occurred?

We are attempting to eliminate future terrorism attacks by understanding why 9/11 occurred. The media is no more interested in assisting to protect American security than it is in supporting our energy cause
