"fewer shrill attacks"?!?!?!?!

If Hilary's in the race, this will never happen. Now, take a stroll down memory lane -

"I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and disagree with this administration, somehow you are unpatriotic. We are Americans. We have the right to debate and disagree with any administration!"

The war on terrorism will have to go on as long as Islam lasts. I hope it doesn't have another 50 to 70 years - it's already had 1500, and has been a constant menace. Fortunately, it is such a backward religion, keeping its people in total ignorance, that for a long time (since the seige of Vienna, at least) it hasn't had the technical capacity to do much harm.

But since you don't have to be very bright to strap a bomb to yourself and park outside a school, I guess they've found the great equalizer. And of course, the few who get technical knowledge seem to have found ways to use it to do evil - isn't Zarkawi a medical doctor?

The possible 2008 Republican presidential candidate

He won't get my vote. Never. Ever. Forget it. He's sold his soul to the devil.

The war on both Blitzkreig and Kamikaze took only 4 years to end. Enemies armed with a lot more than car bombs. But then again there was an all-out effort with the draft, rationing, war bonds and Rosie the Riveter in factories. And of course Generals like Patton who would have kicked Gingrich's ass [if he was in uniform] for such a suggestion.

The last war on terror, the war against the anarchists, lasted about 40-45 years, from the 1880's to the 1920's. During that war, a president of the United States (William McKinley) was assassinated.

The mainstream press never makes parallels between that war and this, probably because the terrorists of that day are considered heroes and/or innocent victims by the Left.

Newt is in our new reality. These Jihad terrorist are programmed from early childhood into adulthood to hate and destroy the infidels. They are promised an eternal reward of virgins for committing Jihad attacks. With all this being said, in order for acts of Jihad to end these teachings must first end and then all those who have been programmed need to be captured killed or de programmed.

P.S. this is my first post on this forum. I come to you from the Swiftvets Forum where I made over 1051 entries. My name over at Swiftvets is coldwarvet.

We know the enemy.

The real question is.....

do we have the backbone to be proactive in our defense or will we continue to react to a ever-increasing threat?

The communists wanted to rule the world....not the afterlife.

Islam threatens humanity like nuclear proliferation.

It is just like a virus.......hiding in an unsuspicious host.

Newt's not good at making predictions. He thought his first two marriagea were going to last forever. Probably thinks his third one will too. Some men never learn.

Well then, I think the trick would be to fight the war in such a way that it doesn't take 50 to 70 years. I have no faith that we could prevail in such a lengthy war. Therefore, we should not fight one; rats will occupy the White House again any number of times during that period and they will take every opportunity possible to sell the country out. We have to win and we have to win relatively quickly. IMHO.

Americans need to be ready to wage the war on terrorism for 50 to 70 more years.

Our “War” on drugs has been waged for nearly 70 years.

Former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich said Friday that Americans need to be ready to wage the war on terrorism for 50 to 70 more years.

Newt's full of crap, as usual, in things Military. Ten Years. Max. Iraq is the linch pin on which all other Arab/Islamic States will discover that Democracy if far better than Fear.

Jack.

Shoot, outside of Iraq we're not fighting any War. As with the War on POverty (40+ years), and with the War on Drugs (someone said 70 years) we're just using this War on Terror moniker to create more neverending gummint programs.

(Check out the ridiculous case of the Lodi Islamist cleric and his baby boy, and compare with the cases of Nazi spies during WWII to see what I mean.)

Gingrich sees war on terror lasting 50 to 70 more years

Considering the way we're fighting it, yeah, I can easily see this.

The possible 2008 Republican presidential candidate also ...

Hard to picture a scenario where the right issues and combination of candidates would give him the nomination. An impossibly long shot.

A lot of disrespect and resentment towards him here at FR. But I'll always remember that he gave us the congressional majority in '94. He had some vision and courage at the right time. But then, he didn't have much to lose and a Congress to gain. I would say that in the second half of the 20th century, only Gingritch had an impact comparable to Reagan's.

It's easy to forget what politics was like when the Dims held Congress year after year.

Not if Cruella deClinton gets into office -- she'll lose the war in less than eight years.
