Sandy Berger Probed Over Terror Memos

Berger's home and office were searched earlier this year by FBI agents armed with warrants after the former Clinton adviser voluntarily returned some sensitive documents to the National Archives and admitted he also removed handwritten notes he had made while reviewing the sensitive documents.

However, some drafts of a sensitive after-action report on the Clinton administration's handling of Al Qaeda terror threats during the December 1999 millennium celebration are still missing, officials and lawyers said.

Berger and his lawyer said Monday night he knowingly removed the handwritten notes by placing them in his jacket, pants and socks, and also inadvertently took copies of actual classified documents in a leather portfolio.

"I deeply regret the sloppiness involved, but I had no intention of withholding documents from the commission...

The FBI searches of Berger's home and office occurred after National Archives employees said they believed they witnessed Berger placing documents in his clothing while reviewing sensitive Clinton administration papers and that some documents were missing.

Berger said he returned some classified documents that he found in his office and all of the handwritten notes he had taken from the secure room, but could not locate two or three copies of the millennium terror report.

I hope the "probe" is painful for him!

You mean like a colonoscopy without the attendant medication and lubrication?

Hopefully this is the first post and not a repost.

I apologize in advance if I made a mistake.

Let's hope the proctologist has really fat fingers, ice cold hands and sorely needs his fingernails clipped.

No problem at all George. Keeping Berger's criminality front and center is no vice.

Why isn't his accomplice in jail too? Whoever was on security duty that day should also be in jail as well! I keep saying the document heist had a collaborator, it was an inside job!! The guard in charge of monitoring the security camera was probably in cahoots with Berglar! How can we find out who was on duty that particular day when the Berglar struck?!

This is so hilarious. Why just regret the sloppiness?
Why the lie about "no intention to withhold"? If you KNOWINGLY place documents with the handwriten notes in your pants, skivvies, and socks you are obviously attempting to withhold the info in those notes from others.

As well, after stuffing your clothes full, I would not
think the further secreting of documents in a leather portfolio is anything but inadvertent.

PUH-LEAZE!!!

As I understand it, it was personell at the archives who became suspicious of Bergler. They then set up a sting more or less, by marking/noting documents which were found to be missing subsequent to Bergler's perusal.

These were probably the memos that referenced Mohhammed Atta that were destroyed so they could not be brought up during the 911 commission.

GUARANTEE! The documents stolen by Berger that actually incriminated Willie were destroyed long ago and no trace remains.

Stealing just one piece of paper should require jail time. Lots of jail time. This jackass knows better and he was caught interfering with the security of America. That is treason.

Suspicious? A sting? Geez, I would think they would have nabbed him on his way out the door the first time! Noting documents? You'd think they would know EXACTLY what he took by just looking a the photocopies of missing info! But, I've been told there were NO copies..unbelievable if true! What is the truth?...I don't know, but I'm counting on Mr. Weldon to get down to the dirty nitty gritty and find out!!

Nobody will go to jail and it will take a book written by a real Historian 50 years from now to uncover the entire story. But just as Alger Hiss was finally found to be the scoundrel he really was, the true History of the Clinton Administration will be told with respect to terrorism. Only the Left thinks that you can hide the truth. The Right know that you can not. This is the underlying difference between Right and Wrong(Left).

Amen!

National Archives employees said they believed they witnessed Berger placing documents in his clothing...

And he was not stopped from leaving with these docs they witnessed him taking? Get the rope!! Their statements are CYA and they are part of the deal.
