I don't know how this relates to the issue of common sense, but I like Einstein’s “Rules of Work” as quoted from then-Chicago Bulls Coach Phil Jackson’s Sacred Hoops:

1. Out of clutter, find simplicity;
2. From discord, find harmony;
3. In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity.
