Angry widow calls for new 9/11 panel
St. Petersburg Times ^ | August 12, 2005 | PAUL DE LA GARZA

Posted on 08/14/2005 12:50:15 PM PDT by george76

TAMPA - With details emerging Thursday that the Sept. 11 commission omitted crucial information from its final report last year, a group of 9/11 widows called for creation of a new independent panel.

"I'm very disturbed, and I want to get some answers," said Kristen Breitweiser, whose husband, Ronald, died in the World Trade Center. "I want to know what the truth is."

Her organization, the September 11th Advocates, or the Jersey Girls, was instrumental in pushing for creation of the Sept. 11 commission.

On Thursday, the now-disbanded commission became embroiled in controversy, after acknowledging it omitted crucial information about ringleader Mohammed Atta in its final report last summer.

Former commission members planned to issue a "comprehensive statement" Thursday afternoon addressing the latest developments but they balked, saying they were still reviewing documents.

In a scathing letter Wednesday to the former co-chairmen of the commission, Weldon said, "The commission's refusal to investigate Able Danger after being notified of its existence, and its recent efforts to feign ignorance of the project while blaming others for supposedly withholding information on it, brings shame on the commissioners."

Early in the week, Al Felzenberg, who had been the commission's chief spokesman, said the panel was unaware of intelligence specifically naming Atta.

But he said subsequent information provided Wednesday confirmed that the commission had been aware of the intelligence.

It did not make it into the final report because the information was not consistent with what the commission knew about Atta's whereabouts before the attacks, he said.

Citing the latest revelations, Breitweiser, the Sept. 11 widow, called the findings of the Sept. 11 commission "an utterly hollow report."

you can't handle the truth Kristen.

the truth is that Clinton's stewardship of this nations military, intelligence, and law enforcement apparatus over his 8 years led directly to 9-11, 7 months after he left office.

They have already tried to exonerate Jamie "The Wall" Gorelick by pinning the fault on Jonathan Reno.

Not without a hyphen between the E and the L.

I wonder how long it will take the lovely and gracious Mizz Breitweiser to discover that amongst her hard-left crowd, no dissent is tolerated?

Kristen is perhaps a little confused on the dates, 2000 being an election year and all. She probably thinks Pres. Bush was in office in 2000. When she realizes Able Danger occurred during the Clinton years, she'll quite down.

I'm really sick of 9/11 widows who think that the world stops and starts at their convenience, but I agree with them on this. Finally, they're making some noise about something important instead of making vague accusations that "Bush knew 9/11 was going to happen" and bitching about every memorial whose design wasn't submitted to them for approval.

"I want to know the truth"

Never thought I'd find common ground with the Jersey Girls, but, I agree. The American people have a right to know what happened, what led to the intelligence failures.

How can we prevent another 9/11, if we are not willing to take an unflinching look at why we weren't able to stop this one? No political party gets a pass.

And I definitely want to know what Sandy Berger took out of the National Archives and destroyed. Why did he get off with a slap on the wrist? Those were Classified Documents he stole.

a group of 9/11 widows called for creation of a new independent panel

The jersey girls hatred of Bush is dwarfed only by their desire for attention, and it's been awhile since they got any air play. It will be hard for the favorite darlings of the media to be ignored. Bring out the cameras, it's time for another stage panel, complete with interviews and outrage.

Well Kristen, the liberals don't believe you can handle the truth, they say disregard Able Danger and go away, nothing to see here now move along and remember the old liberal philosophy "The facts don’t matter here, its the seriousness of the original charge that matters, its Bush's fault"

Will you accept that answer?

Or, she could camp out in Jamie Gorelick's drive. That would be more fun, but no one would care.
