I suggest a napalm bath for the palesite baboons. That will stop them from getting frisky..

I doubt that you intended either. Please pick a different example.

Sorry for any insensitivity on the subject I may have inadvertently shown.

In my lat post I offered another alternative example that I said would tread on no modern historical sensitivities. That example was that of how the Athenians handled the island city-state of Melos during the Peloponessian War.

Melos wanted to remain strictly neutral and protested that it had done no harm to either Athens nor Sparta. Athens, however, demanded that Melos become an Athenian ally or face destruction.

The Melos refused to abandon its strict neutrality.

The Athenians then captured Melos, killed all the males inhabitants, sold all the women and children into slavery and exterminated Melos from existence.

What is perceived as "hostile" need not be be an aggressive act against the exterminator. Exterminators, be they Germans or Athenians, need little justification in their own minds beyond what the Athenians put forth, as described by Thucydides:

Athenians: "For ourselves, we shall not trouble you with specious pretences- either of how we have a right to our empire because we overthrew the Mede, or are now attacking you because of wrong that you have done us- and make a long speech which would not be believed; and in return we hope that you, instead of thinking to influence us by saying that you did not join the Lacedaemonians, although their colonists, or that you have done us no wrong, will aim at what is feasible, holding in view the real sentiments of us both; since you know as well as we do that right, as the world goes, is only in question between equals in power, while the strong do what they can and the weak suffer what they must."

My point is that, for a righteous nation such as Israel, short of the Sampson Option, the Extermination Option is not on the table in regards to the Palestinians due to political and moral restraint.

We can only wish. A shower of brimston from above would be nice. I'm afraid I prayed God to kill all the palesites with AKs and RPGs and covered faces, then I asked forgiveness, but dagnabit, I'm full of rage and hatred, just like after 9-11.

“You point focuses on the tactical…” ........... Absolutely, but you made the same point repeatedly -- that now Israel was free to bomb by air. The strategic considerations are mixed. You are correct about consolidating one’s position and resources, but some of that gain is wiped out by losses in having to defend against air strikes into the heart of Israel by Palestinians in Gaza and in loss of supervision of the Philadelphi Route.

All courses of action have different tactical options, some better than others.

However, when choosing a course of action, the ultimate strategic goals must be the guiding factors.

As I see it, Israel's strategic goals are: An acceptable level of security achieved at an affordable price.

If you can't afford the price in resources, it is not a viable long-term strategic option.

While having supervision of the Philadelphi Route with troops on the ground has a tactical advantage over retaliation, that supervision comes at a cost of the Perpetual Occupation that Israel has realized it cannot afford.

Retaining that capability thereby leads to an acceptable level of security in the short term but is achieved only at an unsustainable price.

Israel has decided to conduct its defense by committing the full might of the IDF into defensive lines behind the Israeli Wall.

It is not as fine a tool as supervising the Philadelphi Route but, by avoiding the unaffordable option of Perpetual Occupation of one million maniacs that breed another million every generation, it achieves the strategic goal of an acceptable level of security at an affordable price.

I am sure that the Palestinian will test the Wall.

As Sharon promised on Monday:

"If they chose fire, we will respond with fire, more severe than ever. "

If they don't want holocaust comparisons why did they start the Pogrom on the 9th of Av, the anniversary of the Sacking of the First Temple, the Second Temple, the Expulson from Spain, the Expulsion from England, and the Murder of Fifty Thousand in the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising in 1940, eh? It was the second most grevious day in the Jewish calendar, nu? Right behind Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement.

Sick, sick, sick. The world is going mad. The lights of civilization are going off. Only a few of us stand between the light and the dark. May God Have Mercy on Our Souls.

Amen, brother. It's so bad, cable news refuses to devote more than 15 minutes to this. Bastards...

I doubt the authenticity of that photo.

These are photos of Palestinian Authority police destroying Arab houses.

Figures. Probably got our check and is building a bigger house with what's left over, after paying for the celebrations, of course. Let's see, $50 million in unsupervised aid, $10-$20 million for the parties, yes, there's plenty for a few new homes.

It would not surprise me if this was a Potemkin house (Hollywood set) staged for the media.

The pic was taken in PA controlled Gaza? If it's not staged, Reuters has a dead photographer on their hands.

I havn't been able to follow it...and the cable news shows aren't doing as many stories as I would like on this...

Earlier in this thread, Burbank Karl posted a link to a radio talk show from Israel that was very good...but considering the time difference, I don't know if it is on now.

It is not being covered because the media would rather have it that way. They don't want us to have compassion for the Jews affected. I wish there was something I could do to show mysupport. I guess a bumper sticker will suffice for now.
