The strangest scene I've ever seen in my life was when Aztec dancers were invited to give a dinner break performance at a local Chumash powwow and they got up to do their near normal spiel about how this is their land...

And five hundred Chumash, in near uniform voice, replied 'SHUT UP!'

Got even better over at the East Los Angeles College powwow when MECHA was having a go at the mike and a group of twelve Tvonga people (Gabralieno) went and pulled the power cord.

The greatest part is a lot of the more vocal groups keep whining that they're no longer invited to do their dance/fundraising/speaking at local powwows anymore. Love their dance, keep the politics out of the arena.
