SHAME ON PRESBYTERIANS AND THE WORLD COUNCIL OF CHURCHES FOR URGING DIVESTMENT FROM ISRAEL

My friend Max said this best: First the Presbyterians and then THE WORLD COUNCIL OF CHURCHES (WCC)

During the last several years militia gangs, armed and supported by the Sudan government, have burned down hundreds of villages in the Western Province of Darfur, killed the men, raped the women and displaced about 2,000,000 Darfurians. It is estimated that 380,000 Darfurians have been killed and are still dying at the rate of 10,000 per month.

Since Yasser Arafat started his armed intefada against Israel, about 3,200 Palestinian Arabs lost their lives. This includes the suicide-bombers, bomb makers, bystanders killed in premature explosions and Arabas killed by Arabs for "collaborating with the enemy."

The kill ration is: 118 Darfurians killed for each Palestinian Arab.

The Leaders of the Presbyterians and WCC, eager to contribute to world peace, divested from the greater menace, in their view, to world peace and call for an international boycott against Israel.

RESULTS: While the Israeli economy is booming - church membership is in sharp decline.

"And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee." (Genesis 12:3)

The following is a list of Israeli inventions from the past several months now under boycott:

Joint Israeli-American team closes in on cause of colon cancer Once college friends and now leading gastroenterologists, an American and Israeli have conducted research that could mean a breakthrough in colon cancer prevention. They found that a dormant virus found in most people triggers genetic mutations leading to cancer. The prevention? A simple vaccine.

Israel makes deserts around the world bloom Israel has worked hard to make its desert bloom. Now, through an initiative called the International Arid Lands Consortium, Israeli experts in the Jewish National Fund are helping other deserts around the world bloom as well, enabling people of arid lands to improve the quality of their lives.

The Middle-East had been growing dates for centuries. The average tree is about 18-20 feet tall and yields about 36 pounds of dates per year. Israeli trees are now yielding 400 pounds per year and are short enough to harvest from the ground or a shirt ladder.

Israeli researchers generate cancer-killing molecules. In the war against cancer, two Israeli scientists are on the front lines of weapons development. The cancer-killing molecules they are generating will recognize cancerous cells and target them aggressively, while sparing normal cells.

Israeli device enables tracking of individuals at risk With thousands of American children and elderly getting lost each year, there couldn't be a better time to introduce Ituran's Personal Alarm and Locator (PAL) - the first wearable location, tracking and alarm device that can keep track of any person or object 24 hours a day.

Israeli device eases the burden of sleep apnea sufferers Israeli startup SleepUp has developed a family of devices for patients suffering mild, moderate and severe sleep apnea, which are smaller, lighter, and more comfortable to use than existing methods. The 20 million Americans suffering from sleep apnea can start breathing easier.

Israeli researchers develop vaccine that enables recovery of AIDS patients' immune system A team of Israeli scientists have pioneered an HIV/AIDS breakthrough by developing and testing a vaccine that complements the AIDS cocktail. While the cocktail deals a blow to the virus, the vaccine strengthens the patient's immune system, removing an additional life-threatening risk.

Israeli innovative bandages saving American lives in Iraq American troops in Iraq are using an advanced new bandage developed by Israel's First Care Products. The first major alteration to field dressings since the 1940s, the 'Israeli bandage' can save lives by stopping traumatic hemorrhaging wounds, and can also be used as a tourniquet or a sling.

The Middle East has been growing date palms for centuries. The average tree is BOUT 18 - 20 and yields about 38 pounds of dates per year. Israeli trees are now yielding 499 pounds per year and are short enough to be harvested from the ground on short ladders.

Novel Israeli treatment zaps tumors using light and pigment For the more than 230,000 men who develop prostate cancer annually in the US, there's hopeful news - a revolutionary type of photodynamic therapy developed in Israel has shown great promise - and could eventually be used to treat a myriad of other cancers as well.

The end of bad breath - Israeli scientist discovers cause and cure An Israeli researcher has finally discovered the reason why some of us just can't get rid of our bad breath: the stench-producing bacteria hide in our tonsils! And through a new laser treatment, he's also established a clinically proven way to cure the chronic problem.

Israeli scientist produces genetically engineered spider web fiber In a world's first, a joint Israeli-German team have succeeded in producing self-assembled spider web fibers. The discovery could eventually lead to everything from bulletproof vests, surgical thread and micro-conductors to optical fibers, fishing rods and new types of clothing.

Israeli innovation unmasks childhood breathing problems Wheezy infants who require aerosol-administered medication will soon be sleeping more soundly thanks to a new Israeli device called the Child Hood. This child-friendly alternative to the inhalation mask improves drug delivery and provides relief to baby and parents alike.

Simple new blood test can determine severity of multiple sclerosis Multiple sclerosis - a debilitating disease that affects some 400,000 Americans - doesn't hit every sufferer the same way. Now, a new blood test, developed in Israel, may help doctors distinguish mild cases from severe ones early on, paving the way to more effective, individualized treatment.

Israeli-made device helps restore use of paralyzed hands A device that electrically stimulates the hand muscles should provide hope to millions of stroke sufferers and victims of spinal cord injury. The NESS-H200, now being introduced at rehab centers in the US, provides regular exercise to inactive hands, preventing long-term disability.

Regardless of the boycott, Arab countries, including Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the Gulf Emirates, Egypt and others continue to buy medical equipment from Israel. (GAMLA: news and views from Israel). * * *

The winners of The Wall Street Journal's 2004 Technology Innovation Awards competition have been announced. Innovators world-wide were considered. The Gold award went to Sun Microsystems Inc of California for a wireless approach to chip design.

The Silver award went to Given Imaging Ltd of Yoqneam, Israel for 'PillCam', a tiny camera that patients swallow so that doctors can see their digestive tract.

The Bronze award went to In Sightec Image Guided Treatment Ltd. of Tirat Carmel, Israel for 'ExAblate 2000', a nonsurgical way to destroy tumors by focusing ultrasound waves on them.

This is a wonderful achievement for Israel. From a world-wide search, Israel took two of the top three places.

FLASH: Arab countries, such as Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Gulf Emirates, still buy their medical equipment from Israel.

If you'd like to be on this middle east/political ping list, please FR mail me.

..................

This is four months old, but seemed appropriate to post given the ongoing controversy within many Churchs.

I wonder if these "churches" will ever be able to see their holy places when they are in the hands of the Palestinians?

I think Christians are allowed to visit Mosques under many circumstances.

Touche.

I've been at Temple Mount and have heard Christians who've entered the Dome of the Rock comment that it smelled like Mohamed's horse left a little something behind for the ages.

I believe our Creator has called upon Israel (the Jewish people) to be a lamp unto all nations.
Those who turn their back towards His people are foretold in His Word where it talks about separating the sheep from the goats. But we are informed via His Holy Bible how it turns out. We will not quibble or question the the Messiah; "So, is this your first time here?".

Now wait a second. Not ALL Presbyterian churches are involved in this disgrace. Only Presbyterian Church-USA (PC-USA) is involved in the divestment. The Orthodox Presbyterian Church (OPC) and the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) are NOT betraying Israel.

Allow me to make some clarity here.

It's the Presbyterian Church USA who is doing this, not all Presbyterians.

The PCUSA is apostate, which is why the Presbyterian church I belong to, the Presbyterian Church in America(PCA) split from them in the 70's.

Now if the Palestinians could only patent their advanced suicide bomber technology.

Genesis 12:3...good then, good now. God's word is forever. When you go against his word, you are fighting him. And get this...all those who mock his word... God is laughing at you... Psalm 2:4-6.
