I lease land to several cotton farmers right now (used to farm it myself; too much work!)

I too have picked cotton. If a pound of cotton could be sold and the proceeds would buy as much of other things as was the case in the fifties then I could go into the field after the mechanical picker has left and gather a good living from the leftovers.
