This is not new. This has been happening for at least 20 years. The Catholic Church works with Home Depot and other businesses to set up labor camps for these illegal alien workers to join with contractors.

The Catholic Church is no Friend to the U.S. and it's legal citizens and residents.

I'll never forget when I lived in a rectory with a group of Priests. They complained about the influx of Muslim immigrants in Europe, while at the same time praised the influx of Mexicans into the US.

I still believe that Mexico and the EU should sign a labor agreement to allow Mexicans to immigrate to Europe to replace the Muslims.

Another example is that of border security and illegal immigration.

Republicans are supposed to be tough on terror, but when it comes to the thousands of miles of unprotected borders, Republicans are playing politics while the security of America is at stake.

To fight a real war on terror, government officials must make it as tough as possible for terrorists to enter the country illegally.

Yet, whenever some Republicans come forward and talk about fighting illegal immigration and increasing border security, other Republicans are backing down under fear of being called "racist" or "insensitive."

Perhaps Republican legislators need to increase the calcium in their diets so they can grow a backbone.

Instead of the image of tough legislators fighting for conservative values and issues, the images that come to mind more often than not when thinking of Republicans in Washington are those of a family of jellyfish.

The Pope doesn't not want third world people in his country. He just wants their money and religious values. The Vatican in particular is a very closed society. They are guarded by the Swiss guard, the best military in the world. Those old men stand behind a wall and tell all of us how to live and what to do.

I have similar sentiments to yours, although I still contribute to my local parish and relinquish my sense of control over the money donated after it leaves my fingertips...but...

Hypothetically, I wonder what the response by Catholic Charities, even any local parish, much less Bishop, would be if: an impoverished person who needed a car, housing and employment would be if they were an American citizen?

I am only hearing from my Catholic leadership that they want/intend, actually, "enact immigration reform" and are busy assisting illegal aliens in/to the U.S., and yet...WHAT SERVICE DO THEY BESTOW UPON THE NEEDY CITIZENS of the U.S.?

It seems to me that by using so much -- such extensive -- taxpayer dollars from U.S. citizens and legal residents (and elsewhere, just saying, this is where I am, the U.S. and the U.S. and immigration is what we're discussing here), that they are honor bound by so many OTHER teachings and instructions by Christ where everyone else is concerned...

The specialization to aid and assist illegal aliens is strange, to my view, in it's specialization.

About the bashing aspect to this thread, I agree that it exists...and that focusing on some greedy quality to the Catholic Church (the "they want to fill their pews and schools" part) seems like foam. Note that many among the Catholic Church want to and are in the process of reducing participations in schools due to the expenses and problems involved with religious-based educational systems, from what I've read.

I've met a variety of Catholics who opine nearly all over the place as to what and how to give appropriately, in line with their faith but I've yet to know well any fellow Catholic who promotes violating laws as a righteous act, and that includes immigration laws.

I think, rather, that what most of us Catholics want to see is aid when needed, as needed, to amend human suffering, but me and no one I've ever known who is Catholic is wreckless with their donations, or in their approach to money for the needy...as in, most Catholics I know and have known are quite involved with who is being helped and how by what money they can and do donate.

My only distance at this point in my donations is that I want my local parish to receive what I have to give, and see that assist people in my neighborhood/parish who are in need, however they are.

I should ask about this issue, when/if possible, though, about illegal aliens. It's a problem.

Last thing (sorry, long comments), as to Pope John Paul's comments about globalization, is that I always interpreted his comments about that to be one of faith, a globalized body of Christ, as in, a global church, not globalization in an evil, political control sense.

Catholic Church; illegal immigration.....documented proof of a concentrated effort to support blanket amnesty of "the undocumented".

The Catholics are really bad on this issue but it is not just the Catholics. Most of the mainline protestant churches are trying to fill their pews with illegals too. Recently both the Episcopagans and the Lutherans came out in support of massive amnesty (which they euphemistically call immigration reform).

I think that when churches start advocating policies that adversely impact taxpayers it is time to start turning churches into taxpayers. Schools for example are funded largely by property taxes and the cost of education is dramatically increased by illegal immigrants. If the churches want the illegal immigrants so badly why should all the prime real estate where their buildings are located be exempted from the tax base that funds the schools?

Last I checked the Catholic Church is not the institution responsible for enforcing immigration policy; direct your venom at the appropriate parties. Also liberal groups like the Ford Foundation are actively funneling money into the pipeline supporting illegal immigration as well as bilingualism and other such nonsense. That said, the Church should NOT be in the business of disregarding a nation's laws.

True. The Catholic churches in our town (which has its share of illegals) have signs in English. I cannot count the number of non-English signs on the iglesias here.

Thanks for your links this morning. I've been away a few days and haven't kept up. I've bookmarked several of your articles.

I don't have to be told about the Catholic Church leaders. They were sought out early on by our government to run an underground illegal railroad across America. They made the mistake of announcing this in our area, telling us they know beforehand the names of the illegals who are coming into our area, and Catholics who are sympathetic bear the responsibility of getting these illegals settled and signed up for free services. (Not at the Church's cost but at the tax payers cost.)

The news media was also set up to help with the illegals. When anyone in the community raises a point against illegal immigration, they are immediately called "racist".

America was set up by our enemies within long ago to be destroyed. Bush has signed on to a redistribution of wealth to poor countries - which is a socialist scheme to take wealth away from the middle class.

He continues to follow the plan: When Bush's amnesty gets passed, and it will be passed, we will quickly lose any representation we ever had.

Yes, that's certainly what some bishops think they are doing. But, in fact, it's yet another instance of "doing charity" at somebody else's expense. If the bishops want to help impoverished Mexicans, then maybe they should spend more money on the Mexican missions.

One problem with the modern Church is that too many of its leaders seem to think that the government can and should solve all the world's problems. But the true tradition of Catholic charity, as taught by St. Vincent de Paul, for instance, is to give of your own time, sweat, and money to help people, not to shove it all on the taxpayers so somebody else can pick up the tab, and the hell if it breaks the economy and the rule of law.

Perhaps there are exceptional circumstances. The Church has long had a tradition of offering sanctuary to fugitives. But that's not the same as inviting in millions of illegal aliens and then throwing them onto government welfare.
