The funny thing about Mortensen is that, although he is an intense sissy leftist, he will always be remembered for his role as Aragorn - a character that is the complete opposite of his personality and ideology in every way.
Exactly right. So plainly and manifestly did LOTR's storyline support what our President is trying to do, that Mortensen felt obliged to run around telling everyone that it wasn't so, that America is really more like Sauron and the orcs.
Sometimes "idiot" is just too pale a word.

PS
I've often thought that people like Mortensen should eb obliged to preface everyt public-policy statement with a disclaimer like this:
"Hi. I'm Viggo Mortensen. I'm not actually a person of character, judgment, morals and accomplishment -- but I played one in a movie. So I'd like to say...."

True. But Gimli could still kick Aragorn's ass.

My biggest remembrance of Aragorn (as portrayed by VM) is that his hair was always scraggly, sometimes to the point of distraction to what was actually going on in the movie. Sure wish goldilocks would've slipped him some shampoo and conditioner.
I also remember him as Satan in "The Prophsey".
Which is why he was unable to "sell" himself in the role, IMHO. There was a disturbing weakness and unpredictability to his Aragorn that was disappointing.
